Inspiring Conversations with Shachi Shukla of Craft Bazaar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shachi Shukla.

Hi Shachi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am Shachi, business owner of Craft Bazaar. I live in Seattle with my husband and 2 adorable boys aged 6 and 3. I wanted to stay with my kids after their birth so I took a break from my high-paying IT job. During this period, I realized that I was not enjoying my work, so I decided to quit my job permanently and do something that will give me motivation and happiness every single day. I started Craft Bazaar 2 years back with a dream –

* To provide unique and good-quality accessories from different parts of India.
* To be able to support the local artists who have been working so hard to keep the cultural art forms alive.

Our products are now available on Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, and eBay.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When I launched my business in Sept 2019, in order to create brand awareness, I was doing exhibitions every week. I had big plans to expand my business but 6 months after the launch we were hit by the pandemic. Just like many other small businesses, Craft Bazaar was also deeply impacted by this.

But I kept my faith and stayed positive. Since there were no exhibitions happening I decided to sell my products online and slowly made all my products available on Amazon. Everyday I encountered a new challenge like creating listings and content, designing promotions and advertising campaigns, testing multiple marketing strategies but I took it as an opportunity to learn. We participated on Prime Day and received great responses on the products.

By December 2020, we were on ETSY and eBay.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Craft Bazaar, our goal is to provide unique and good quality accessories from different parts of India. And to support the local craftsmen who are working very hard to preserve those artforms.

What makes our products so special –

* Ethically sourced
* Made in small batches
* Beautiful designs and patterns, made just for you
* Sustainable fashion
* Support local craftsmanship

Through Craft Bazaar, I am not only living my dreams but I am also trying to support the dreams of local artists by providing them a global platform.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
In my free time, I love watching movies with my kids. Making road trips with my family.
