Meet Grace Repasky of Lunar Vacation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Repasky.

Grace, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started in high school, just jamming to Tame Impala and other bands. I started releasing demos under the name “Lunar Vacation” on Soundcloud, and we all decided that we should play them live and thus, Lunar Vacation was born. The band now consists of me, Maggie Geeslin, John Michael Young, Connor Dowd, and Matteo DeLurgio and we have released one EP entitled “Swell” that is available on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. We play shows all around Atlanta and are in the process of writing our full-length album.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a rollercoaster! Sorry, it IS a rollercoaster. We’ve run into some issues lately because half of our members are freshmen in college, while Maggie and I are finishing up our last year in high school. The distance and lack of transportation has definitely taken a toll on and has limited us, but we try our best to work around each other’s schedules to make it work. But hey, these “bumps” in the road have only strengthened our relationship and we’re still going strong!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a band based in Atlanta. I think the thing that sets us apart the most is that we started last year, so we were all in high school, playing with other local bands that were out of college. It is really exciting to play with people that are older/in different stages of life than you because it gives you new perspectives about the music business, or even life. Also, balancing school, the band, and a job can be very difficult and frustrating sometimes, but I think that really furthers us as a band as well as individuals, teaching us responsibility skills.

What were you like growing up?
I am still growing up! But I’ve always been kind of shy and tend to keep things to myself, but music has really helped me grow as a person, helping me further my speaking skills and just putting myself out there. As for interests, I have been bouncing from things like painting, graphic design, fashion design and even wedding planning. But music has been one of the only things that has stuck.
