Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Welsh.
Kiana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in San Diego, California. My parents are of Honduran and Grenadian descent. Being a descendant from immigrants whose primary language is Spanish, I was indoctrinated into a multicultural home. Spanish was our first language in the home and English was our second. While attending school I honed my English proficiency. To the point that I can now say, that I speak English and Spanish fluently. My interest in business began at an early age, and as a consequence I have always had an insatiable desire to be in control of my daily activity. I later discovered that this was best secured by owning my business which allowed me the freedom to chart my destiny. Upon graduating from high school, one of my first jobs was working at a radio station. The exhilaration that I felt when I walked into the station on the first day still reverberates in my mind and spirit. At that moment, I knew I wanted to do something big. I didn’t know what, when or how, but I knew that it had to be big. Through my employment with large companies and exposure to celebrities, I was able to take a panoramic view of the marketing and entertainment industry. I then began to see things at levels that many don’t get a chance to see. As I look back over my life, I now know that my current company, Ki Events, was born out of that experience.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overcoming the fear of venturing into owning a business was my greatest obstacle. Access to capital, securing reliable and competent staff, getting exposed to companies in an industry where it’s not about what you know, but who you know, all of those things were obstacles to my initial success.
If I started all over what would I have done differently, I would have secured more initial capital to whether the lean times during the slower seasons.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ki Events – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Ki Events specializes in providing aesthetically pleasing, congenial, professional and efficient staff for events. From serving, greeting guests, tradeshow personnel and more.
What sets Ki Events apart from others is, the overwhelming expressed satisfaction of individual clients. We go above and beyond to ensure that our clients are pleased with our top-notch service. This is as evidence of our repeat business. Because we listen to the customer, we cater our personnel to meet the specific need of that customer.
We’re known for high level customer service, follow up, tailoring our service to the customers’ needs, dependability to include punctuality, professionalism and attention to detail.
After starting my company six years ago, I’m most proud that we are still in business and continuously growing.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plans for the future are to hone in on niche markets by which we can collaborate with companies that will utilize our services on a more frequent basis.
