Hi Oak Grove Market, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Oak Grove Market is a 40+ year butcher shop and retail market. “OGM” serves breakfast and lunch Monday thru Saturday, known for the daily lunch specials and best cuts of meat in Atlanta. Our partners are Atlanta grown and family/community focused.
Once a bustling restaurant/retail space full of tables and booths, OGM pivoted at the beginning of the pandemic to all retail/grocery to fit the needs of the neighborhood. The butcher shop offers the best cuts of meat in town with our butcher on site daily. Signature and custom cuts available as well as daily fresh seafood deliveries as well as poultry and pork.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The pandemic has brought its challenges for everyone. From staff shortages to strange food scarcities to sky-rocketing food costs, we have persevered and worked together to overcome. Pivoting and flexibility have been key. We have a strong staff and we’re all supportive of each other and work hard each day to provide the best service and product to our customers.
We’ve been impressed with Oak Grove Market, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Oak Grove Market is a neighborhood butcher shop and retail market, serving breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday. We offer a pickup familiy meal Monday through Friday, available for order on our website – www.oakgrovemarket.com.
Our core mission is to be a neighborhood and community asset and it drives our business on all fronts. From supporting the neighborhood schools, Fire and Police departments to providing top notch customer service in our store everyday. Our store serves a wide range of customers, all ages and walks of life and we love being the centerstone of the Oak Grove community.
Oak Grove Market is most proud of our butcher shop and retail offerings. We support as many GA Grown products as possible and local vendors are our favorites. Our dinner program is popular, offering pre-ordered family meals that customers pick up in the evenings, often on their way home from work.
We are proud of our amazing staff family. We have mostly long-time employees who feel and act like a family and customers can feel that love when they visit. We work hard to provide a culture of inclusion and family focus to both our customers and staff.
The holidays are coming up – our busiest time of the year. We offer Fresh Turkeys and sides for Thanksgiving – all available for pre-order on our website. For the December holidays, we do similar pre-orders of specialized beef cuts, sides and desserts.
