Daily Inspiration: Meet Davon Dye Founder of East’on Margiella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davon Dye founder of East’on Margiella.

Hi Davon, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born in Hamilton/Trenton NJ. Not too big of an area. when I was in high school one of my siblings moved to Atlanta and my mother and other sibling moved to Florida. I decided to stay in NJ to finish out my education then I eventually moved and went to college down south. before the move, I didn’t have my close family near me, I became more independent. As I became more independent, I was more hungry for success and had many ideas in my head with a lot of friends that were successful around me as well. I always was happy with their success but I knew I had to have something for myself as well, but not just for me, for everybody around me, which led me to creating EAST’ON.

I went on a trip for a week to Miami a couple years ago and it’s something about Miami. I travel a lot but I don’t know, Miami different ’till this day. Every time I go, I just lock in and when I come back to wherever I’m staying, I just don’t talk and isolate myself for a couple days and let my thoughts process. this time was big though. I was talking to one of my friends about names I would name my child if I ever had one, first name that came up was “East’on”. I wasn’t thinking about a media outlet at the time but it popped up and that name was crazy to me.

When I got back home I ain’t say nothing I just had a head full of ideas. anybody that know me know I don’t like a simple life, that’s all I was thinking about at the time. I just always wanted better for myself and for the people around me so I ended up creating a media page. I always wanted to have my own brand growing up but an outlet never came into thought, it was just clothing. Once the outlet came it was easier to share my clothing line.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Challenges with my brand, it’s always challenges because not every day is how you expect it and its also days that’s more than you expect. One struggle is the consistency of us posting information every day. It’s not really a struggle but it’s definitely challenging, it’s worth it because of all the love we get and how far we are going and want to go. There hasn’t been a day we haven’t posted since the day I started the outlet and that’s the toughest challenge. Another challenge is getting merchandise out. I feel like I’m a perfectionist when it comes down to my brand so once my merch is not up to my standards, the release dates always get pushed back.

some other struggles were s getting the recognition and the patience when we first started as a brand.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in a lot like photography, social media manager, fashion designer, web design, I make clothes.

– would say I’m most proud of building my brand and involving everyone that’s in it. I still got a long way but I’m proud of my process.

– Also, most proud of the people around me, my family, and my friends.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Probably the most surprising to others I know is how I tend to be a perfectionist with certain things like how I want the page to look like or my clothing line. for the people that don’t know me personally their always surprised at how young I am and how much stuff I do with the brand and where I’m at.
