Check Out Dj Nah Mean’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Nah Mean.

Hi Dj Nah Mean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started djing at the age of 15 years of age in Dover, Delaware with the help of his older brother and his grandmother. With his first job at Burger King he was able to purchase his first pair of turntables. With hard work and determination, after only 1 year, DJ Nahmean was mixing, blending records and rocking outside events. From recreational centers, teen parties, to the 21 and older venues, by the age of 16 he was djing all over Delaware, Maryland, the eastern shore and the Tri-state area. It was shortly after when he took his talents to Savannah, GA where he really became the youngest in charge. Savannah was also where he got his DJ name “Nahmean”. Before that, he went by DJ Focused but DJ NahMean, it just stuck! While in Savannah, GA he started to take over the club and bar scene downtown. You could catch him playing at Deja Groove, Malone’s Night Club, Bar Bar, The Jinx, Venus De Milo, and more! At age 27, DJ Nahmean moved to Atlanta where he is currently a force to reckon with in the nightlife arena. You can catch him in a variety of clubs with his high-energy mixes and tricky blends.

It’s those same blends and mixes that landed him a slot on the airwaves in Macon, GA on Power 107.1 FM and also as MixShow Director at 93.9 PowerHitz in Atlanta Ga You can Catch DJ Nahmean each and every Friday night on the “Friday Night Turn Up” from 8pm -10pm. DJ Nahmean also has a new mixtape series entitled Quarantine Vibes, which is available on all major platforms and mixtape sites.DJ Nah Mean also does his own events; supporting indie artists any chance he gets. He’s also had the opportunity to work with countless up and coming artists in the industry such at 1Playy, Jhonni Blaze, Natasha Mosley, Juug Man aka Yung Ralph, Jamie Ray, Euro Gotit, Summerella and more!!

When asked who his influences are, DJ Nahmean answered “DJ Shorty T, DJ Big Ant, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Player, DJ Kid Capri, DJ Cash Money, and DJ Lord of the infamous rap group, Public Enemy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
its definitely has not been a smooth road I’ve been through a lot to get where I’m at today dealing with janky promoters 2 years after I moved out here my apartment in East Point got broken into an they Stole all of my Dj Equipment all of my music laptops clothes everything I had to start over its been times I had to sale my equipment to pay my bills and I would have to start over my girlfriend when I moved down here I taught her how to dj and she stole my equipment and this is just some of the things I went thru since ive been here and I know you would be like why would I stay in a place like this where all of this is happening to you and I say that to say this I’m a true believer in myself I never gave up on myself and my goals and what I came down here to accomplish I take my Ls straight up and keep it moving just like I take my wins I’m a fighter I never give up where I’m from there is not a lot of nightlife currently in my city there is no clubs us djs had to create our own parties in halls,VFW buildings, Elks lounges, in order to build our name and due to all of the crime and violence they are little to none allowing us to do that anymore so you have to travel out of the city or go to another state to go to a decent party or club

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m now a radio DJ and now Mix show Director and I’m very proud of it! It’s been something I’ve always wanted to do and learn about till this day I’m still learning but it’s my craft my mixes and blends that sets me apart from everyone else I don’t follow what everyone else is doing in the city I do me!!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the culture how its more people here that looks like me the food, of course, the women the nightlife the money moving out here was the best decision I’ve ever made Atlanta changed my life! oh yeah I hate the traffic smh
