So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been a Massage Therapist since 2010. Prior to becoming owner in 2014, I worked for the company for four years. My old boss wanted to travel and couldn’t because of the business so she sold it to me. It was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It’s almost been another four years since and I have learned and grown so much on a personal and professional level.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think anyone who’s ever owned a business will agree that it is never a smooth road. You run into obstacles that many times cannot be foreseen. The important part is to stay positive, don’t give up and try not to overwork yourself. Set goals for your progress and reserve some time for yourself to do the things that help you relax, otherwise you’ll get burned out very quickly and won’t enjoy being a small business owner.
Please tell us about The Buckhead Massage Company.
The Buckhead Massage Company specializes in Therapeutic Massage Therapy services. We are one of a kind here in Buckhead. They call us ‘Buckhead’s Best Kept Secret’ because our clients receive ‘their’ massage not ‘a’ massage. In addition, when we advertise a 60 minute massage, the client actually gets a full hour hands-on. We take breaks in between sessions to refresh for the subsequent session so that we don’t get overworked. Our Massage Therapists truly love what they do and are so good at it.
In addition to massages, we offer facials using IMAGE Skincare Products. The 02 Lift is my personal favorite. It’s a premium spa experience with immediate results. The treatment removes the older skin cells and reveals fresh, healthy skin and I’ve seen nothing like it on the market.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have had babies before obtaining a business instead of getting pregnant six months in. There is no maternity leave when you own a business.
