Today we’d like to introduce you to Cienna Rose.
Hi Cienna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the Beauty Industry. My mother is a nationally awarded salon owner, a beauty educator and a badass hairdresser. I got my start in her apprenticeship salon – observing budding hairdressers, assisting stylists, acting as a salon receptionist and building a wax and lash clientele from the salon’s private spa room. Initially, my career in beauty was meant to be a hustle and a means to pursue my passion for singing and the entertainment industry.
Before delving into esthetics, I studied theater and musical theater at DC’s performing arts high school, Duke Ellington, and NYC’s, American Musical and Dramatic Academy. At 17, I had a mentorship with Motown’s, Kerry Gordy and in my early 20’s I performed on the Apollo Stage, at the State Farm Arena and as a contestant on FOX’s, The X Factor. The Beauty industry has become a stable source for my creative expression.
I’ve since worked in hip, high-end and “best of” salons and spas. These include Maude Hair Salon, Bliss Spa at the W Hotel, Wax ATL and Ritual Body Work. Other businesses I’ve worked beside and utterly adore are, Creature Hair Studio, Lark & Sparrow Nail Salon, The Aura Weaver, Arcana ATL and Divine Arte. I continue to be inspired by these stellar brands and boss ladies. ATL’s community of Beauty alchemists, Creatives and Healers are so supportive.
In 2019 I opened up my own spa business, Ode to Wonder. It’s ever-evolving. I have so many ideas I’m slowly flowing and growing into! I’ve recently introduced a new co-working/booth rental concept called, Room to Wonder.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Just a month after my business turned one, the pandemic hit and shut me down. My clients were extremely supportive. One thing I’ve learned is, folks do not like being hairy! … clients were ready to get back in for their monthly wax as soon as I was back open. I’ve been fortunate.
Being an impatient millennial has caused some riffs in my journey. My generation values freedom, flexibility and joy! I’m thrilled that I have the opportunity to provide that for myself and other free-spirited practitioners who work in my space.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Intuitive Skincare and Brazilian Waxing. I also offer Tinting, V-Steams and Spa Parties. My approach reflects how wellness rituals should address both your Skin and your Spirit. Crystal products, crystal tools and spiritual elements, infuse metaphysical energies into my offerings. I love incorporating Eastern Practices like Facial Cupping, Reflexology Tools and Gua Sha. I’m currently studying crystal healing and facial massage modalities.
What sets Ode to Wonder apart is definitely the vibe. There’s so many talented providers in this city. I wanted my guests to have a curated experience each time they walk in… not just a service. Cool music, eclectic decor, treatment customization, night time hours and wellness mocktails are all a part of the experience. We highlight natural Black Owned, Locally Made and Women Owned products. Ode to Wonder is a reflection of the things that bring me joy. I wanted my space to have the culture, color and vibrancy of so many rad hair salons and creative spaces. I didn’t want to feel like I needed to hide my personality or fit a typical spa model.
I’m most proud of Ode’s new co-working concept – Room to Wonder. I use my love for design to curate multi-use spaces for independent beauty magic makers, intuitive readers and wellness gurus. I want independent practitioners to feel supported in what I like to think of as a “womb space.”Unique pop up providers and coworking members, are offered flexible cowork options, shared backbar products, cross-marketing and collaborative opportunities. This model allows them to grow their business at their own pace, in a dope ass space. I want to be a part of their journey. I’d love to create a dream space for freelancers and booth renters.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
