Conversations with David Dilworth

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Dilworth.

Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I work for the Airline industry and Covid happened and I was unsure of what would happen with my job, so I thought to myself “What am I an expert on?” and it hit me that I’ve been working out for over 15 years so I could probably could help out a lot of people. I am already a big fan of Youtube and I thought to myself “Why don’t I start posting videos on how to help people get in shape.” I realized that people were at home and can not go to the gym like me so I focused on home workouts.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, I started out with free editing software on my phone but I started to realize that it was limiting what I wanted to express in my videos. So I wanted to use what “the professionals use” and that is “Final Cut Pro” but it was $300 and in a time like this where I did not know what my job situation is, it was a lot of money for me but they had a 3 month free trial of the software so I said to myself, “If I get 500 subscribers by the end of the 3-month trial then I would invest in myself. Not only did I get 500 subscribers by the end of the 3 months, I got my first sponsor and they paid me $500.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work for delta as a fight attendant currently but now that is just extra money. Youtube is paying all the bills now but I really enjoy flying. If youtube gets really big then I realized that I would have to quit because I can help people on a larger scale through YouTube and really enjoy growing a business.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that I can make money and help people all on my own. I don’t have to wait for a job and can create one. It is so empowering to see people who enjoy my content and getting healthy from it.
