Meet Vanessa Reilly of Domo Realty in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Reilly.

Vanessa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Domo Realty was created after I moved into a special mid-century modern neighborhood called Northcrest in 2008. I had been struggling to find a home that that checked all the boxes. For years I had moved from house to house all over the city but had never really found the ‘one.’ Selling Real Estate and getting to experience so many different homes makes it easy to become obsessed with beautiful unique properties, so for my next home I knew I wanted something different, something mid-century modern with clean lines and an indoor outdoor aesthetic. When I discovered Northcrest I knew I was home! The architecture is similar to homes seen more prevalently on the west coast, post and beam style homes with low pitched roofs and big picture windows. During my mid-century modern home journey I realized the need for a specific agency brand that embraced the cool factor of these homes. That’s why I created Domo Realty. We are not the average, traditional brokerage, we embrace unique architecture and are passionate about helping our clients with the emotional journey of finding or selling their home. We understand how a home can be a reflection of someone’s personal style and a reflection of what matters most in their life. People often ask me how did you come up with the name Domo or what does Domo mean? Domo, is derived from the Latin word “Domus” which means “Home.”

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth roads are boring! Our journey has been a bumpy, ever changing adventure! Everyone told me when I first started Domo Realty that Atlanta wasn’t a modern city and people preferred traditional cookie cutter homes over mid-century modern 1960’s split levels. They told me I would be limiting my potential clients’ pool and pigeon holing myself. Interestingly enough, there are more people who are drawn to the aesthetic of good design even if they live in or own a traditional home, they still appreciate clean lines and smart design. I find that many of my clients are drawn to my listings and marketing because of this without even specifically searching for modern or mid-century modern homes and believe it or not, my marketing and staging strategies can sell a traditional home just as well if not better!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Compared to other Realtors, we don’t take ourselves too seriously because we recognize that we’re not biochemists or neurosurgeons. We do, however, take our clients’ needs VERY SERIOUSLY. We outsell the competition by helping our clients create spaces that speak on an emotional level to a buyer which results in a higher sales price. Our listings are polished and beautiful but believe it or not, they don’t all start out that way! I have other Realtors approach me all the time asking who does our staging and marketing?! WE DO of course!! Yes, you could hire a staging company but most of the time, the traditional staging falls flat and feels fake. Before we list a home we work closely with our clients and help them fine tune the space so it will create an emotional connection with the people who are looking at it.

We are genuinely motivated by our passion for good design and because we love what we do our clients end up thrilled with the results which typically corresponds to THOUSANDS of dollars more in their pocket at closing!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely! Atlanta is a city on the rise. There are so many opportunities to connect and create. Real Estate is a moving growing industry with new superstars emerging every day! If you are hungry, dedicated and willing to commit full time to a career in this industry and passionate about helping people then you can create an amazing career selling Real Estate!
