Meet Bryan Reavis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Reavis.

Hi Bryan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a Photographer/Visual Artist. I started photography back in 2016 at Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC. That is where I studied film production and photography. I fell in love with photography and especially black&white photography. In the beginning, I didn’t have any clients or even know how to start this photography thing, so I just started taking pictures of things I wanted to see on my walls. After just shooting and editing for about a year, I started to gain traction and trust from people that needed a photographer. I shot my first wedding for $150.00 (crazy, I know lol). I spent a few years in Charleston, SC working on my craft, and than in Jan of 2020 I moved to Atlanta, Ga to make a name for myself in this hustle and bustle city!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road…?? Lol, Nothing comes easy that’s worth fight for. I’ve Had plenty of struggles along my journey. In the beginning, I would borrow family member’s and friend’s cameras. I didn’t have a laptop or computer of my own so I would stay at the college for HOURS after class editing and learning. Sometimes self-doubt would kick in and I would just get down on myself about my work. But I have a beautiful support system and they always give me brilliant words of encouragement.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Lifestyle photography/ branding photography / food Photography/ and fashion photography. I would say I am known for my photography eye, my attention to detail, and black&white photography. I am most proud of how far I have came and not giving up on myself or my dreams. My creativity, timing, and passion set me apart from my peers. I care about what I photograph and I care about the people I work with. I go above and beyond for my clients.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
This Covid-19 thing has been wildddd! I learned to not just sit and wait for things to happen. I took my time and used it to my advantage. I subscribed to all types of photography webinars and photography podcast to keep me up to date in my field. I would rent camera equipment and lighting equipment just to practice my lighting skills and exposure skills. I picked up product photography and food Photography while being Inside during Covid-19 as well. Covid-19 taught me how to hustle and boss up even harder.
