Today we’d like to introduce you to Gonzalo Alarcon.
Hi Gonzalo, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started back in 2015 while I was an electrician in a nationwide company. I felt that they need it manpower in every project. That is how GEA started. We unify our Hispanic laborers and skilled workman in order to fill those manpower needs of the big electrical companies. We started with only 4 electricians at that moment now we average 200 electricians and more than 4500 electricians have worked at least one day with us. In addition to that together with my son Gabriel Alarcon we decided to start the commercial construction business which has to take us to manage projects that were only in our imagination. We had been involved in projects of warehousing, Retail, Education, Hospitality, and transportation industries. Thanks to our team and all the people involved we have got to grow GEA from nothing to an 8 figures company in only 5 years.
We are really happy about this journey and excited about what has to come. It was a beautiful dream made reality.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, as a Latino business owner, we went through the struggle to secure capital from national banks, the battle of the systemic racism that has resulted in lower incomes and loan rates it’s a reality. Also, starting a business in a completely new industry for us implicates a lot of challenges in a lot of different aspects of the business, and it’s mostly a trial and error experience. However, the ability of learning how to deal with these issues gives our business a stronger and more reliable foundation.

What is special about GEA is that can provide customers almost any service they need, as we are an electrical staffing company and also subcontractor that offers quality Division 9 and MEP services all around the country, as some people say “We can do it all”. Our dedicated staff has the expertise to handle any project, including residential and commercial projects. We are a two generation family operated with more than 5 years of experience. GEA’s goal is to always provide the best service with the highest quality for our customers.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I have learned is definitely, invest on the right people to place on the right place. I am proud to say that GEA is where it is right now thanks to the exceptionally hardworking and skilled people that have been part of it through these 5 years of operation.
