Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Neff.
Debbie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Starting my own wedding photography business wasn’t actually part of my original career plan, but it’s developed into the most incredible and rewarding experience of my life. It all began when my best friend asked me to photograph her wedding seven years ago. At the time, I had taken a handful of photography classes while pursuing my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Georgia. I knew the basics of composition, exposure and how to work a camera, but I was absolutely terrified to be responsible for capturing such an important day in my friend’s life! So I learned as much as I could about wedding photography, bought extra equipment and practiced as much as possible up to her big day. She was so thrilled with her pictures afterwards, and while it was stressful for me, I enjoyed every minute of it and felt proud to capture memories that will last her a lifetime.
But it wasn’t until four years later that I officially became a professional wedding photographer and opened my own business. After going through the process of getting engaged and planning my own wedding, I fell in love with everything about it – the glitz, the glamour, the sparkles, and most especially, the idea of capturing the emotion shared between two people who are committing to love each other for the rest of their lives. I upgraded my equipment, refreshed my education, established pivotal relationships with other wedding vendors and started booking wedding after wedding.
Now, three years later, I’ve photographed over seventy-five weddings and I’ve been lucky to work with amazing clients who often become lifelong friends.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve been fortunate to face few struggles along the way so far, but that’s not to say there haven’t been late nights to meet deadlines, exhaustion from days of shooting hours upon end, challenging obstacles to overcome at weddings or moments of discouragement and self-doubt. But I embrace the bumps in the road because I feel that overcoming tough situations and finding solutions makes me stronger not only as a photographer, but also as a person. Most importantly, the support and love of my family, friends and clients through this journey has helped me to keep going through times of uncertainty, and as a result, my business has grown exponentially over the past three years.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Debbie Neff Photography – what should we know?
Debbie Neff Photography specializes in wedding and engagement photography throughout Georgia. My style of photography can be described as “natural, dreamy and romantic” because I capture candid and endearing moments between two people in love. I utilize my creativity and artistic eye to take pictures that tell the entire story of a wedding day, capturing every detail that the couple has worked so lovingly hard to put together. I’ve been a bride myself so I understand the complexities (and headaches) that go into planning a wedding; therefore, I make it a priority to know everything about my client’s wedding beforehand, so there’s not a single important moment missed. My clients always comment on how they felt like I gave them 100% of my care and attention before, during and after their wedding day, and hearing such positive reviews makes me proud and sets me apart from my competition.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My personality is well-suited for this business because I naturally possess a laid-back and patient nature which has helped keep nervous brides and grooms calm on a wedding day. But most of all, I believe my ability to establish trust, communication and respect with my clients is the most important aspect to the success of my business. As long as I continue to give my clients the best of my talent, effort and skills as well as continue to deliver consistently beautiful and meaningful pictures, my business will continue to be successful.

My 2nd marriage was a simple backyard wedding without a photographer. If I had to do it all over again, to the same wonderful man, I would have chosen Debbie Neff as my photographer. I know her personally and professionally. She has all the calmness and caring qualities I would want to be present on my wedding day, along with the confidence in her ability to capture the day in a perfectly special way. Congratulations Debbie. I’m proud of you and privaleged to know you. I recommend you to any one who mentions needing a wedding photographer. You have my highest recommendation.
