Rising Stars: Meet Love Liz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Love Liz.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from Portland, OR. I’ve been a musician for as long as I can remember, it just lives in me. I would write raps in my bedroom to the beats that the Casio keyboard in my room, it had these like preset beats on there, like “HipHop beat 1” “HipHop beat 2” and so on. I started playing Baritone and Tuba in middle school and eventually picked up the Alto Sax, which I should’ve started with because the Baritone and Tuba just had no melody at all and that’s what I realized I was looking for. My mother passed away April 14th, 2005. She was also born February 14th, Valentine’s Day. Automatically the number 14, and Love became my reason. I ended up dropping out of school, just playing in the streets, but music was still always right there. Everything I felt I would write, I got better and better and better just doing something that brought me peace and really saved me. I began recording music in the studio when I was like 18, and I haven’t lost a step. It’s my therapy, it’s my peace, and then once I realized how unique my voice was, and how good my songs were I started the building side of becoming a musician, a star, LoveLiz. I moved to Atlanta to take my career to the next level, I met my now management team (Lou, Mak & Budda) and now the journey to the top begins.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Lol, nothing’s easy but Love. But honestly no, it hasn’t been easy. As a creative of any kind our art is a passion, our baby, we put our souls into what. we create. Simultaneously, living the regular ups and downs of everyday life. My biggest battle is myself, it’s easy to get off track sometimes. I have worked with myself, to become what I am now. But it’s a constant, that never changes. I’m forever learning, evolving, battling my pain, but now I have control. I know myself and I think that’s the biggest battle is knowing more about yourself than yourself, and that’s power.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a musician, I don’t like to use the term “Hip-Hop Artist” because my genre is so much more than that. I have 3 sides to me, LoveLiz (your favorite lover, music about love), TrapLiz (the trap sound I fell in love with, thank you Atlanta), PopLiz (the pop era, the next level. shhh). Atlanta has taken me to the next level in my career, and I’m most proud, and excited about my debut album “LUV4RMDATRAP”, which is a clash of Love and Atlanta, from rapper to star, we have a surprise feature on there from one of my childhood heroes, a true Hip-Hop legend. It’s crazy because I moved here for that, and I did that. It seemed like a far fetched accomplishment, but I fully believe in not only myself but manifesting exactly what you want from life. You are your only competition. My team and I have been putting in overtime with this album, and the magic is showing. I’m very proud, excited, in awe, in shock, if there’s even a way to put it into words. The album release date is TBD, but make sure you follow me and my management on Instagram (@1trapliz & @officialsecretlovesociety) for updates.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m very spiritual, I’m very big on Love. Everyone calls me the healer lol, I feel like my purpose is to save everyone from feeling any kind of pain. I never want anyone, that I love to feel how I do. I want everyone around me to find peace, and live their purpose to the fullest extent. My message to the world, is just LOVE. It’s so simple, and with that the world and life would be even more simple.
