Hidden Gems: Meet Lizzy Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzy Jackson.

Hi Lizzy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve loved style since I was a kid but always assumed I would go in the direction of Fashion Design. It wasn’t until I got married and had a few kids that I really let my passion for interiors take over. When we were first starting our family, we rented (six different spaces to be exact) and I always saw each new house as a canvas for me to work my magic on. Each house turned into home and slowly but surely, I was building my confidence in my ability to design great spaces. At the beginning of 2021, I went out on a limb and decided to start offering interior decorating consults on the side. I quickly realized that the interior design market was booming (thanks COVID) and what started as a side hustle has morphed into a full-time design business. While my background and education is in Fashion Design, my experience is in Interior Design and I believe there is nothing quiet as valuable as experience. Now, I mostly work with families helping to create spaces that are both beautiful AND functional (i.e. kid-friendly).

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle has been really getting to know myself, know what my strengths are and know what I bring to the table. So much of finding that though is through trial and error. I have owned businesses that “failed” and we had to shut doors on. That failure felt so painful at the time, but in hindsight, it truly wasn’t a failure but a very valuable learning experience that led me to where I am now and not only taught me about business but also about my own strengths and skillset.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Families are busy, life is chaotic and people simply don’t have time to make their house a home like they used to. Lizzy Jackson interiors works alongside families to help them create their dream home so they can stress less about the decor and spend time making memories with their loved ones. The home is the backdrop for so many important life moments like a child’s first steps, holidays and family dinners, intimate conversations with loved ones and our sacred place to unwind at the end of each day. Because of this, our homes should serve as a beautiful backdrop for all of these things to unfold. We believe that everyone has a unique story to tell and that our homes should tell that story.

I’m really proud to have a design company that works alongside families and makes interior decorating accessible to more “everyday folks” if you will. We also are incredibly diverse as a family and a company. We have prioritized amplifying voices of WOC from day one and work alongside a lot of fabulous creatives!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Atlanta for the diversity in culture and also for the diversity in homes! We have brand new, extra modern builds in the same neighborhood as homes built in the early 1900’s and I love that. I also love how each little neighborhood within the city has its own unique vibe and I love when I get to play off of the towns vibe in a clients home. Atlanta folks are so loyal to their neighborhood and quick to support their local businesses.
