Today we’d like to introduce you to Rubil Khan.
Rubil, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Our company started when I got laid off. My wife and I were eager to start a business. I took courses in treadmill repair and found that I really took a liking to it. My background was in auto repair and it was a natural and easy transition. My wife had a background in administrative assisting, so we combined our experience to start our company.
I took more classes and furthered my education on fitness equipment repair while my wife ran the back office. We built our customer base on excellent customer service. By starting out as a small, family own company, we had to work even harder to make our way to the top.
We now specialize in repairing, moving and installation, and repairing fitness equipment. We work with many commercial facilities around Atlanta while still providing service to our residential customers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were many obstacles and struggles we encountered. We had no experience in opening a business. There is a lot of responsibilities that come with working for yourself. Your own livelihood depends on you so there were many late nights and stressful days. We had to research and learn everything ourselves such as how to obtain a business license, pay taxes, find the right employees, and on top of it all, Google and the small business association were our best friends. And on top of it all, our first priority was to figure out how to make our customers happy.
We struggled in our marriage as well in the beginning because all of our conversations revolved around the business and work. We had to find a way to say “Hey, tonight, no business talk”. It takes time to learn the things you need to be successful. It comes down to trial and error and having good timing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Atlanta Fitness Repair – what should we know?
We are so appreciative of our local customer base. Atlanta has been our home since elementary school. We grew up here. So people here are like family. We treat our customers’ life family. There is not a question that goes unanswered and we are here to provide our customers with total satisfaction.
We have expanded our business to not only focus on fitness equipment repairs, but we also provide installation, assemblies, and general service for all fitness equipment. We now have a showroom where we sell quality refurbished commercial grade fitness equipment.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our clients are amazing. They are our family and we appreciate their support. Atlanta has a big city feel with little city ideals. They have shown that they are very supportive of local businesses.
My wife has stood by me since the beginning. We are a team. We have learned and grown together. We pick up each other slack and make each other better. We could not have done it without each other.
