Check Out Chad Pierce’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Pierce.

Hi Chad, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I starting writing music when I was in high school. When I got to college, my roommate had a studio and gave me the opportunity to record a song. That was back in 2006. From there, I performed at local talent shows and campus events. In 2009, I signed with a small record label in Albany, GA where I landed some radio placement. I graduated from college in 2010.

The job I was working was not enough to pay my bills without student aid assistance so I decided to work. Basically, working just to work. Making enough money to pay my bills and get gas. I had two friends that worked at Zaxby’s that gave me food to make sure I ate. This went on for a while as I saved money to build a home studio. Every time I would get a reasonable amount of money saved, I would have to spend it on whatever life threw at me and now a kid on the way. I was at a very low point of my life. I started making ill-advised decisions that almost cost me my family. One night, I had a dream of me performing on a stage that was so vivid I could feel the warmth of the stage lights. That ignited me to chase my dream of becoming a musician but this time I vowed to give it my all.

In 2016, I released an album titled Yung & Dumb. This album highlighted everything I had been through to get back to music. I did not have many streams on that body of work. So, I worked and made songs for almost three years after that album. Most of which I did not release. In 2019, I finally released an album titled King Peezy. At this point, I begin to notice a change in support. I had better resources and relationships. My energy built the belief in others. I began to receive the support I needed to push a career forward. Since then, I’ve had ten shows, written three theme songs, released two albums and one mixtape. Throughout the pandemic, there were no live show. So, I built an online concert series on Instagram called, Stay TF Home. I invited artists to come perform and put on a show for my followers. This helped build my business and network with new people!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No!

Money. Being able to use resources and set budgets is one of the most important skills. There are so many things that are useful to help draw attention but they usually cost money.

Time. Making sure you invest your time wisely. Many artists spend a lot of time on content creating and not managing the business. Each business needs a plan. That has to be understand and balanced well.

Support. Really it should be called getting over the expectation of support. You cannot expect support from anyone for your vision. Belief is built. Execute, and that will help people believe and support you!

These are a few of the challenges I faced.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a rap artist in Atlanta like everyone else! (Saturated Joke)

I specialize in somewhat of a lofi mood. I have very mellow music. I try not to be super lyrical but my songs carry content and a message. I am most proud of my song More & More feature Scotty ATL for multiple reasons. The song turned out great and is my most popular song. I knew blending our sounds would make an amazing song. I believe a lot of people felt the same. It has over 150k streams.

I make positive vibe music. I speak on working hard, staying consistent, and not listening to negativity while pursuing your passions. I am never going to be too big and I treat my base very well. I respond to every message and make sure I let each supporter know personally that I appreciate them.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve had so many mentors! Sonya from Trap Pilates, Feefo from Dead End Hip Hop, Scotty ATL, Erinn Knight, & Brooke Knight.. just to name a few.
