Check Out Tequila Brown’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tequila Brown.

Hi Tequila, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I get asked this question a lot by others—mostly from my clients, it wasn’t until recently that the answer had changed. First things first, I was born and raised in West Palm Beach FL, shout out to the crib! We all had insecurities growing up as kids or something that made us stand out, mine just happened to be on the surface. I had skin issues. Due to my lack of knowledge about skincare, I didn’t know how to address my issues, and I was often bullied because of them. Don’t feel sorry for me, it gets better.

I remember being in the 9th grade and feeling like I was thrown into a shark tank of individuals who had their own uniqueness, and I wanted that. I wanted to fit in with others and not be an outcast for once—that was such a teenage thing to say. Soon after the start of freshman year, I discovered AliyahJay (a well-known YouTuber) and her passion for makeup and I was hooked ever since.

I begin practicing in the mirror almost every day, even now I can see my mom losing her patience and screaming “Get out the mirror, you’ve been in it all day!” She was right, not only did I find the solution to my problem, but I found the art in makeup.

After high school, I moved to Tallahassee, FL. I was so passionate about makeup and wanting to make an impact in the beauty industry I enrolled in beauty school. By that time, I’d already built a small clientele in my makeup business which was originally known as “Tequila’s Beauty Bar.” My intention for going to cosmology school was not to learn about makeup, it was more so about the skin for me. I graduated North Florida Cosmology Institute with a full specialist license.

Later I moved back to West Palm and decided to really take my makeup business to the next level and create income for myself. Within a year of building my clientele back home God blessed me with the opportunity to work with my first celebrity artist “Hood Celebrity”, it was so unexpected yet super exciting. I then began to attract other celebrities to me, public figures and even my first onset music video.

Throughout the course of this year, I’ve experienced things that were unexpected but served a much greater purpose. I knew God had more for me and that it would take a leap of faith to receive it, so I decided to relocate to Atlanta. It was by the grace of God that I even made this far, that’s all I can really say.

Before I moved to Atlanta, I realized that “Tequila’s Beauty Bar” had already been taken as an LLC. At first, I felt robbed, I’m not even going to lie. I took it as a sign from God to let go of the old and create something new. It was time to expand my services and impact on the industry. I just want to thank God for being with me throughout my journey and of course my friends and family for helping me along the way. I would like to welcome to Atlanta “Angel Glow Studios”.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most certainly not, but the road to success usually isn’t. Up until this point, I’ve never really expressed the test and trials I’ve gone through as an entrepreneur. My family and friends can only attest to a few of them, there are some things I had to keep between me and God. Losing a friend was a struggle for me, rebuilding trust was another. Facing criticism was a struggle for me, gaining confidence was another. Losing my car was a struggle for me, running my money back up was another. Through it all, I kept my faith in God, I don’t know where I’d be without him.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a new upcoming makeup artist here in Atlanta and I specialize in natural makeup. My goal is never to cover up the natural beauty but rather enhance it. I’m known for my super bubbly personality and my unmatched energy. Within my artistry, I’m known for the natural finish of my work and the skin like glow my client’s display. I can say that I am proud of myself for setting goals and reaching them, I’m proud of the fact that I kept going when I really wanted to give up.

My dream and the vision God gave me is what sets me apart from others, I just do things differently.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Resilience, compassion, patience and strength. I’ve learned how to always have a “why”, I do what I do for God and he works through me. That’s my secret.
