Meet Tamara (TK) Koré of TK Fit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara (TK) Koré.

Hi Tamara (TK), please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello my name is Tamara Koré, 33  born November 10th in Atl Ga. My fitness journey started for self back in 2009/2010. I was a sophomore approaching Jr year at Savannah State and I was still carrying my freshman 15, lol. So yea wasn’t pleased. I visited this 24 hr gym by my part-time job, LongHorn and met this guy that pretty much took me under his wing. He saw my determination and drive for a change and from there, it was never-ending!

Just like anything else in life you start, but you never fall off completely before you bounce it back. That was my relationship with the gym. I wasn’t as consistent as I should’ve been, but I would always find away to get it in here and there.

My major turning point was in May of 2017. I was faced with having to have a Myomectomy. The aftermath of myself that I saw in the mirror was my motivation to get back to the gym. I lost it all and regained my confidence.

From 2017-2019, I was very inconsistent, but it wasn’t until December 2019 where I recommitted myself fully and said I wanted to make my passion into a business.

My initial plan was to make a fitness journal, but seeing how I buy them and don’t really use them, I considered fitness apparel. Great idea but the manpower to produce custom designs was unavailable since WE were just starting out. So it was back to the drawing board well gym to make videos and acquire clients to train. On 1/20/2021 we obtained our first client.

I say WE considering I expressed my ideals with an old friend and we locked in as business partners. We would host sessions outside in a parking lot, with no equipment, virtually on zoom or at someone’s apartment gym before we got memberships at planet fitness to train. Fun grinding times! However, Just based off the current name TK FIT to make a long story short the partnership didn’t last.

Now just a slight look into my previous business, which will always be my baby was called Bangin Body Fit LLC. Which lasted a smooth eight months before I stepped out on 9/7/2021 solo. When I say, that was the BEST decision I’ve made thus far, whew chile. I was able to obtain my first gym space to house my clients and I even launched my own apparel.

Can’t say it’s been easy having to do everything myself, but when you honestly love what you do and your work ethic speaks volume. The highs/lows and clientele you attract make it all worthwhile.

This year’s one year anniversary was definitely a joy! I’m highly anticipating the ones to come!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Now I say this with fingers crossed that nothing major arises, but I’ve been blessed not to have had to face anything serious since I went solo. If I had to say anything, it would be being sick or needing to take unplanned time off. Now I must say my clients are very understanding so it’s never an issue. I just truly hate being away from the gym. Outside of that. Honestly, no real struggles and I’m thankful, but I’m prepared for the lows just like I endure my highs!

We’ve been impressed with TK Fit LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ok, so I’m a certified fitness trainer. The most important factor behind my success is that I honestly love what I do. The time sweat and tears put into pouring into my clients mean the world to me. The joy of being able to manipulate the body is so gratifying. Fitness is my passion, my stress reliever and my happy place…literally my EVERYTHING! It’s just makes the process 10x better when others believe in your abilities as much as you! The one thing I need people to take from me is that when it comes to fitness is that our body is like an hourglass. The time the sand takes to filter to the other side is the same process when it comes to changing your body. Be patient and never rush the process! Oh and remember it’s YOUR journey not others!!

One thing I’m most proud of is being able to assist so many people without having to post any “accepting new clients” post. I say that because my work ethic with my clients have literally brought every client I’ve ever worked with. Although I’m not above doing it, the business is honestly running itself!

My services include small group training, online/virtual training and 1 on 1 when lucky. I say that because I still work full time in the corporate world so my hours are very slim.

What matters most to you? Why?
The one thing that matters most to me is being able to help each client reach if not exceed their goals. I say that simply because to have someone entrust in you is a big deal so to actually deliver means everything to me!
