Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Thomas.
Hi Raven, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been surrounded by spiritual women. When I was six years old, I start coming into my gifts. I could hear spirits, I could see them and sometimes I could even smell them. If I am being honest, it scared the crap out of me. My mother told me that it was a gift from God, but I shouldn’t tell anyone about it because they may think I was “weird” or “ungodly.” So, I kept it to myself. After my mom died in 2009, my gifts became stronger, more intense. I tried to drink and party them away because who wants to be the weird girl? The funny thing is that no matter how much I tried to run from the gifts God gave me the more intense they became. In 2018, I decided to stop running from them and start embracing them, and that’s when Spiritual AF Candle Co. was born. I took my love for Luxury Candles and combined it with my love for healing people and my spiritual gifts. The woman who I am in 2021 is far more different than the broken woman I was in 2009. Now, I have two beautiful little girls and a supportive wife, who I am healing for because our future generations depend on it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
HECK NO!!! The hardest part about starting my own business has been getting out of my own way. Fear almost had me several times. The second hardest thing is just learning the basics of how to operate a business. It’s so much that goes into it. Everything from ensuring my business is legally covered, branding, engaging with social media….so many different moving pieces. It’s all hard but it’s worth it!!!!
We’ve been impressed with Spiritual AF Candle Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company specializes in luxury fixed candles. You can use them when meditating, praying, or simply to create a vibe in your home or business. Our best sellers, “Big Dick Energy,” should be burned when you need a boost in confidence, and “Moolah” is used to help manifest more money. My favorite is “Spirit,” I created this candle after birth mother died in 2020, and it holds the most special place in my heart. We have recently expanded into room sprays, soaps, and other spiritual supplies.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was very guarded, hot-tempered but kind. I was dealt a crappy hand from birth because my birth mother struggled with addiction issues. My father took me from her and he and my stepmother raised me. I’ve always been interested in helping people and I wanted to be a surgeon growing up. After college, I went into the IT field and I’ve been in IT ever since.
