Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Tucker.
Hi Corey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had an interest in Technology since I was very young. At the age of 12 years old, I fixed my first iPhone and PS3. It started off just as a hobby of mine, as I’ve always been the type to explore my curiosity and pull different devices apart to see how they worked. When I got to high school, I started fixing everyone’s phones and I began to get more and more clients by word of mouth. By the end of my high school career, I can almost guarantee that I fixed just about everyone’s phone at my school and every other school in my county. When I got to college at Kennesaw State University, I took things to another level with marketing and branding myself. In addition to fixing devices myself, I also got an internship at a Computer and Smartphone Repair store called PC EMT. Working here for three years allowed me to perfect my craft and also learn a plethora of new things such as fixing computers, iPads, Watches, and many other devices. But most importantly, I learned how to run and operate a successful business. I also developed customer service skills by studying how the owner of the store interacted with his customers and conducted himself on a daily basis. Eventually, I was able to turn my little hobby into a successful business that I’ve been doing for about ten years now. My business The Repair Plug offers Computer and Smartphone repair as well as many other specialized services for customers across the Metro Atlanta area.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been many challenges for me along this journey. The biggest challenge I initially had starting out was traveling to people since I wasn’t quite old enough to drive yet. As a result, I had to resort to having people come to my house to get their devices fixed. There was a period where I had people coming in and out of my parent’s house on a daily basis. As one could imagine, this isn’t the safest or smartest thing to do because you don’t want everyone knowing where you live. Especially people that you don’t know because you have no idea what their true intentions are. Luckily, by the grace of God, nothing crazy happened to me or my family around that time period.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Repair Plug?
The Repair Plug is a mobile business that specializes in fixing computers, smartphones, tablets, and many other devices. These repair services range from screen repairs, battery replacements, charging port replacements, camera replacements, data recovery, and website design. What sets us apart from others is that we are a mobile business and can travel to you to fix your device on site. We understand that not everyone is able to come to us all the time whether it may be because they are at work, have no transportation, or that they have other obligations. This is where we can help offer you an affordable service to fix your device so you can get back to your daily life.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel like the quality most important to my success is providing true value to others whether that may be through great customer service, saving someone’s device and precious memories, or teaching others more about Technology. I believe if you provide value to other people, you can go as far as you want to go in life.
