Daily Inspiration: Meet Ebony Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Sanders.

Hi Ebony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
So growing up, two of my aunts were stylists as well as my Godmother. They all taught me different skills and techniques that I was able to use on myself and others. By the time I was in high school, I was styling some of my classmate’s and neighbor’s hair. I thought I would be a nurse, at least that was my plan at first, but I was so focused on hair in college that I decided not to return after my spring semester and pursue Cosmetology as my career. That was 2011 and I have not looked back. I moved from Indiana to Atlanta and that is how I got started. I started Cosmetology school at Georgia Career Institute in Conyers and graduated 2013. I have been an intern, assistant, junior stylist and lead stylist in different salons before starting ILoveTexture in 2018.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely NOT! For starters keeping a business afloat in the midst of a Pandemic is not easy!! I commend all the entrepreneurs who are still here and didn’t have to permanently shut their doors. With that being said, nothing worth having comes easy, there are so many different hurdles. There has been plenty of times I’ve cried and questioned if I made the right decision starting my own business. No matter what obstacles I’ve faced, nothing has ever made me throw in the towel. This is my baby, my dream so even when it’s tough, it’s worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Master Cosmetologist. I specialize in Natural Hair Care. Most of my clients would say I’m versatile and creative. I love natural updos and rod sets. I also live for a good silk press with tons of body and curls! What sets me apart, well I won’t ever compromise the integrity of your hair just for a desired look. I believe in healthy hair, so I teach my clients how to understand their own hair and how to properly maintain it.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My authenticity, vulnerability and professionalism. My clients/coworkers have seen me go through plenty of life moments. They’ve seen me experience highs and lows, grief, and more. I still show up and don’t make excuses. Regardless of what may be going wrong or right, my team and my clients know I’m dependable and I’m gonna still do my job to the best of my ability. Which has made it easy for me to have built such strong relationships with my clients, they genuinely love me and I love them. They trust me, so they don’t hesitate to refer a friend or co-worker to me. They have helped me really reach new heights and get connected with some amazing people that has led me to great opportunities.
