Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Folsom.
Hi Jada, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I like to think that I was called into the beauty industry. Before July 2017, I had no prior knowledge or care about makeup. I didn’t know about makeup brands or anything dealing with cosmetics. Although I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur and create a business that I can work for myself. My application from Belk was pulled in 2017 and what I thought to be an interview for working in Women’s Apparel quickly turned into three interviews in one day to be a beauty advisor for Lancôme. I began to branch out on my own in November 2019 right before the pandemic. Outside of work, I began taking clients at my home. In March 2020, Belk closed down for seven months due to COVID-19 (I did not go back to work when business began to open back up). Over those months, I had a vision to create a beauty brand. I knew I didn’t just want to be a makeup artist, but I wanted to be much more. I envision myself as a successful businesswoman who will eventually have multiple businesses. A part of that vision is in fruition today called Haute Beaute Artistry. Since starting, I’ve serviced over 600 clients in the South Georgia area including assisting with weddings, photoshoots, etc.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all! Nothing in life is easy but having the mindset to keep going despite what you’re going through will take you a long way. Being a full-time college student in the midst of a pandemic while trying to maintain a business has been very tough at times. There were times I wanted to give up on everything but I pushed forward and continued along the path of entrepreneurship. I’ve always been the type of person to do things myself, but I’ve learned, you have to trust others and ask for help when it’s needed. When you feel that you are lost and need guidance, that is the time to look for help in people and places who can help you get to where you want to go.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a mobile freelance makeup artist in the South Georgia region. I specialize in Bridal and Photoshoot makeup services. My goal is to achieve natural and gorgeous enhancements to make my clients feel extra beautiful and confident. I am known for providing substantial customer service to ensure clients leave feeling satisfied. I am most proud of the trust my clients have in me to allow me to freestyle or create looks specifically for them. Essentially, for me to be a self-taught makeup artist along with the knowledge and experience I received while working for Lancôme has allowed me to quickly gain trust and confidence from clients over the last two years.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Anyone who would like to collaborate with me can do so by email or they can simply shoot me a DM on Instagram @ Haute Beaute Artistry LLC. Support can be shown in multiple ways by following me on social media, liking my work, commenting on my work, or just giving words of encouragement will help tremendously.
