Hi Lynn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my candle and fragrant tools business as a passion project and a need to release stress. My business has blessed me in so many intangible ways. Over the years, as a family, we had invested a tiny fortune in products such as candles, body scrubs, and lotions all in search of products that had a great smell and provided the outcome our bodies craved. My daughter is asthmatic so there was a need to be especially careful about the elements in the air. Searching for products good for our bodies, the environment, and at an affordable price was a challenge.
A sister-friend recommended that I try candle-making as a stress reliever. I purchased a starter kit and from there, I was hooked. In addition to the fulfillment of creating satisfying fragrances, the products used are environmentally safe. For me, candle-making has been extremely relaxing and has been an escape from life stressors and negative energy. Today making candles and other fragrant products is a vital part of my being. I can’t imagine anything that would replace the challenge and serenity of the process.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Launching a business has been very excited as well as scary. The most stressful part is the fear of investing in the unknown and traveling too far down a road to find out you may have taken a wrong turn. Staying with that metaphor, a wrong turn can also provide great scenery and take you to a place better than you imagined.
My greatest struggle has been doing too much at one time and not narrowing my goals. Being overzealous and trying to conquer the world has led to moments of feeling overwhelmed. I finally realize it’s better to be great at a few things than mediocre at many.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create generously scented soy wax, cotton wicked candles, and other fragrant tools in affordable and elegant vessels. My fragrances are sold in multi-size candles, wax melts, odor-eliminating room spays, car diffusers, and room diffusers. Summer 2022, I will be launching hand/body butter and sugar scrubs with some of the same unique fragrance blends. My uniquely blended scents are tailored to moments of joy and reflection of rewarding memories such as a Citrus Sunrise, Fireside in Napa Valley, and Date Night (to name a few). The containers are reusable, simple, elegant, and esthetically pleasing for any decor at an affordable price point, affordable elegance.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have a large extended family and some of my favorite childhood memories are centered around the holiday when we all connected under one roof. The laughter, food, loving banter, and playing UNO with stuff in the game (adjusted game rules) made the time together forever cherished memories.
