Daily Inspiration: Meet Brittany Briscoe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Briscoe.

Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
2 be Adored has officially been in business for one year (It’s our Anniversary). I started this business because I was sick of shopping in stores that didn’t have my size, didn’t fit my body type and was over-priced. Society has taught us that women should look a certain way when we need to be embracing ALL body types no matter what they look like so I decided to start my own lingerie business that would not only cater to women of many body types but that they can feel sexy in and can afford. Our focus is body positivity, making the everyday woman feel comfortable all while bringing her sexy back!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, my first year we were adjusting to COVID as the “new norm”, but I also became pregnant with my first child. Adjusting back into the swing of business, with a full-time job and now a single mother has taught me patience. Things no longer just work on my time; I have to consider I now have a tiny human that depends on me so managing my time when he’s asleep to make sure I am posting on social media, keeping up with the latest and hottest trends, and getting orders out there. I look forward to what this year will bring because I don’t plan on slowing down any time soon. They say you can’t have it all, but I say why not?!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Business Analyst and I work in State Government here in Kentucky. I’ve been in this role for six years now and plan to branch out into CyberSecurity this year. I always thought I’d be a nurse and one day, I discovered IT and haven’t looked back since. It’s a growing profession that I believe not only black people should look into but black women. We need more women of color in the IT field!

I’m most proud of the fact that even though I had a child unplanned, I didn’t let that stop me from continuing my hustle. I may have slowed things down to adjust but never have I given up. I want to make sure my son knows that life can throw many obstacles at you but as long as you don’t give up, you’ll never fail. Things may not happen immediately when you want them, but God always takes care of those that are obedient to him. Life hasn’t been easy for me growing up, nor as an adult but one thing I can say about me is I don’t give up. I find a way!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe we can never reach our best selves or fullest potential without taking risk! Make that move, take that job, quit that job, start that business. DO what makes YOU happy! I haven’t taken many risks in the past year, but I plan to make a big one this year, so if you’re following my journey be on the lookout for that. You can’t get far in life always living in fear, if COVID has taught us anything, it’s that this life is short and the unexpected is right around the corner so why put off tomorrow what you can do today?
