Hi Denitris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started writing poetry when I was a teen throughout my adulthood. My grandmothers passing put me in a dark place. I stopped writing and completely shut down. I became distant from everyone and everything. Years passed and I made a choice to either start writing again or stay in this dark place. I made the ultimate life-changing decision to write again. I reconnected with poetry, God, church family and friends. Writing poetry again has been a healing journey that has led me to being set free from my past life situations, hurts, pains, and experiences, which weighed me down for so many years. It’s my life desire and passion to continue to write from my heart and offer my Poetry Consultant Service. I will write a poem based on your need. Contact me with your poetry needs. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey wasn’t smooth years ago because I was depressed due to my grandmothers passing. My heart was taken out of me. I shut down from everyone and everything. This negative thinking became my mask and my home. I had a lot of internal work to do from the inside to the outside. I was powerless, hopeless, and faithless. I am now powerful, hopeful, and faithful. Everyday I’m growing, learning, changing, and becoming the Best Version of myself.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Poetry Consultant, I will write a poem for you based on your needs. I have written poems for and about: Birthdays, Graduations, Anniversaries, Celebration Of Life, Family, Friends, Co Workers and Networking Events. Poems I will not write: Deformation Of Character, Abuse, Violence and Revenge.
I am most proud of Who I am now. I am a Women of Strength, Courage and Committed never to go back to an unhealthy, abusive, toxic relationship. Also, encouraging, empowering, educating other women about Dating Domestic Abuse early on and the signs to look for and to share my own story.
I am relatable, honest, authentic and real with who I am and what I say. I always speak from my heart even when it hurts, uncomfortable and unpredictable.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Life lesson is I am not in control but I can control some things Life lesson is I live by faith not fear.
Life lesson is not to take anything or anyone for granite.
Life lesson is stand up for what you believe in even if no one else does.
