Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Whitfield.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Pamela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
October 2013, God gave me my purpose I had prayed for years about what it should be and to be honest ran like hell for about 10 years. Not knowing even how to start or why I was overwhelmed. Four years later here I stand with a great team of women taking over the world through mentoring, community services, feeding the homeless, mission work you name it. How can 20 people change the world? One life at a time. We started with a small group of young ladies that we saw needed our help through our new mentoring program and now we have 53 young ladies ages 12-18 one in college, one graduate from college, 2 in dual enrollment (high school and college). Oh sure we’ve lost a few that didn’t like the structure or me being so hard on them but I expect greatness and I’m not going to change that to accommodate their feelings. We attend school functions, extra-circular activities, take them on college tours, feed them, tutor them you name it we’ve done it all. From prom dresses to maxi pads no ask is too great but in order to get you must give you very best. Not only do we mentor we feed the homeless and work tirelessly not just in our community but all over the world to make a difference. Even on vacation we find a way to serve. This year alone we have provided for over 42,000 people with two trucks going Texas for disaster relief as well as one to Jacksonville FL during the recent hurricanes. We travelled to Arizona, Michigan, New Orleans, San Antonio, Haiti, Belize, Bahamas, Jamaica, Cuba, San Francisco, Indiana and Puerto Rico to name of few all doing mission work even while on vacation. My motto to my team there is always an opportunity to serve others. Next year I will be 50 years old my goal is to have served within 50 different capacities as many different places and areas as I can before 11/7/18. 50/50 that’s my motto goal for 2018. I’m thankful for a village of people that support the vision and the new things to come in the future. Our goal is to open a full transition center for those that are homeless, recently released from prison or just need a fresh start and help up. In our program participants will stay for 18 months while there they will gain jobs skills, education, life skills, counseling and support that they need not only thrive but survive. Humbled and appreciative of my wonderful husband who works tirelessly serving our country as solider in the United States Army he’s definitely been my rock, my cheerleader, my fan and my biggest supporter. I’m even more so grateful to God for keeping me through this journey, keeping my feet grounded and my heart opened to love, to give to SOAR.
Has it been a smooth road?
If the road was smooth everyone would do it. It’s one battle after another one but it’s all worth it. When you see a smile on your mentee’s face, when the homeless person hugs you and says thank you for loving us, thank you for serving, thank you for giving. Money is always one of the biggest struggles (or the lack there of). Losing the people (friends) that you thought would ride or die for you but they don’t understand the mission or the vision so they fall off and meanwhile you gotta hold it together and keep it moving. It’s hard when family doesn’t understand and want to throw stones, shade or degrade you but you know what God has called you to do in the season and you have to keep moving. Staying the course even when you don’t see anything happening, or how things will come to pass God always makes away.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Will2Way Foundation – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Will2Way Foundation is a nonprofit that is all about service that’s our ministry. I am proud that we started a new intuitive this year called Homeward Bound where we send once homeless people to their families to get a fresh start and off of the cold hearted streets. This year we have sent three people back to their families (that makes my heart smile). I’m proud of the fact that we’re growing and more woman are catching onto the vision to change the world. More than none I’m proud that we have provided for over 42,000 people worldwide and the year is not over. Most of all of proud of leaving a legacy that will live on forever and that’s I’ve done my part to change the world.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the small town feel and knowing my neighbor. I hate the small town growth and people with no vision or don’t know their purpose talk about people that do. Small town mentality.
