Meet Javon Ridley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javon Ridley.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At the age of eight, I told my Mom that I wanted DJ equipment, and on Christmas, I was surprised with the whole setup. The setup was advanced, and no one knew how to work it, so I started practicing, but we took it back and got a smaller one. After that, I started learning how to use my new equipment from YouTube. After years of practice, by the age of 10, I wanted to work at DJ events. One of my Mom’s friends allowed me to provide my DJ services at their events, and after that, more people started to book with me. Four years later, I am the owner of Destined For Stardom; I work at events for private parties, community services, and company events. I also learned from Tasha Catour (a music producer), who makes beats because I aspire to open a DJ school one day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nope, I mainly miss going out with friends because I have to work a lot, but I know it pays off sooner than later.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At 14 years old, I plan to acquire an abundance of success strategically. I don’t mean just by monetary gain, but to create generational wealth for my kids and grandkids. Destined For Stardom’s business model currently provides DJ services, and I specialize in making beats and writing music. My future goals are to provide services to those in the music industry and open a school for youth who love music. I am known for being the GO TO DJ for all the teen parties in Atlanta, and I am DJ VON.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mother and Grandmother are my backbones, and every person I met and everything I have is because of those two women. In addition, mentors, supporters, advocates, and clients that I can’t name everyone at this moment have been an enormous blessing in my life. I am thankful and blessed for the continued support.

I had mentors in school that taught me music, support groups to keep me on track, and advocates to give me opportunities to grow my skills.
