Life & Work with Tracia Bryant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracia Bryant.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was always passionate about designing and fashion. When I was in high school, I had an art teacher that made me draw for my portfolio to get into fashion school but I ultimately ended up going to school for mass communications. When I realized that wasn’t my passion, I moved home taught myself how to sew and came to Atlanta. I had no idea what I wanted to do in Atlanta but I knew something in fashion. A few months in, I knew I wanted to have my own clothing line.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I think learning what I want my brand to be and certain business aspects have been the hardest part. I think my idea of what I wanted my brand to be in the beginning has evolved and it’s been a process learning how to get there and still is a process. Learning the business is definitely a process as well when you go in without the proper knowledge luckily I’ve met a couple of people along the way that have been able to help. The manufacturing process itself is a whole thing. It hasn’t been a smooth road but I’m definitely learning as I go and it’s worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a designer, I have a contemporary women’s clothing line. I feel most proud when I see people look amazing and feel amazing when they are wearing my line. My goal is always to make something that is flattering for all shapes. I think what sets me apart is the process of creating from designing and picking the fabrics to getting the pieces made in the US.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me most… I would say using my platform to show people you can accomplish your goals no matter where you come from and what you go through. Just showing others to stay focused and what is meant to happen will come to you with hard work.
