Today we’d like to introduce you to Tikisha Morris.
Hi Tikisha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a firm believer that you are who you need even when you can’t see it. When I married my amazing husband, I had no clue what it meant to be a wife. Not only did I not have a clue, I had no examples around me that I could emulate. I struggled HARD with my role as a wife and it caused a ridiculous amount of stress on me, my husband, our marriage and our family. When I got tired of ME (ha) I remember praying and saying to God, “if my marriage has to go through hell for one to be saved, I’ll do it!” That, in essence, was me saying to God “put me in Coach! I’ll go in in Your Name and rescue wives and marriages for Your glory. One of my first opportunities to connect with other wives came from a marriage roundtable that my husband and I hosted in CT. We called all the married couples that we could think of and say, “Hey, let’s have a conversation! No topic is off limits, but we are coming not to be right or wrong, but we are coming to learn and grow.” And it was a huge success – unfortunately confidence got the best of me and I never hosted another one. But then my husband and I moved to GA and I felt the Lord tugging on me to GO! My husband and I hosted a virtual 13 weeks marriage course called Intentional Love Affair. We worked with seven couples once a week for 13 weeks and we discussed real topics that were important to marriages but they were topics that weren’t being discussed. From sex and intimacy to submission, roles that we should have and so much more. I won’t lie – it was epic! We saw amazing transformations in the lives of the couples that we work with and we hosted that in 2016 and many of them still talk about it to this day.
After that, begin to reach out to wives socially using an app called Periscope – I would go live multiple times a week just talking about the ups and not so ups of being a wife. My struggles, my successes and I would just share in real-time what it was like to be my husband’s wife. That really resonated with other wives because they felt heard and I was just trying to get help. Hoping that someone would come along and teach me how to do this wife life. But it was just me and God – I called that my on the job training. Though I felt like a horrible wife, The Lord showed me that He had created me to be exactly who I thought I needed and that He would perfect me to make an impact on wives and marriages for His Name sake. And now, fast forward a few years and I partner with a few hundred women through my ministry The Healed Rib helping them with practical strategies and biblical wisdom to live their lives as an extraordinary wife. And I am hosting my very first conference for wives August 6-7 here in Atlanta! Wives can learn more at TikishaMorris.com – it is going to be EPIC!!!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a wife coach has not been a smooth road but every bump, hurdle and pothole has been worth it. As a wife coach, I have to show up as a confident expert for my clients – but if I am being honest, there are days when I don’t feel so confident as a wife – heck as a woman. In every marriage, there are struggles and days that you look at each other and think, “so you’re still here huh?” and being a wife coach, you can’t bring your marital struggles into your daily work. Can you use your struggles as a coaching opportunity? ABSOLUTELY! But when you’re going through personal issues as a wife, it can eat away at your confidence and make you feel like an imposter.
And there are struggles in business. Being confident in the call on your life to impact change can have you in a place where you struggle with charging for your services. You can easily blur the lines between ministry and business. I found myself being overly available creating top-tier coaching programs that I like to call 30 Day Challenges. Having 1 on 1 client calls, doing live videos and so much more and I was netting ZERO! Like $0.00. I did not make a dime! Why? Because the knowledge and wisdom that I had concerning wives was given to me by God. How could I charge for that? But God will send help when you need it and my Co-Pastor, Teresa Goggins said to me “the day of pro-bono is over!” And it has freed me to know that I am worth my hire even on the days that my own marriage is not so pretty! Personal struggles that I face don’t make me an imposter, they make me human and my services are still invoiceable! HA!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a strategic wife coach, I am committed to helping women level up their lives as wives through heart refining individual & group coaching. Through my ministry, The Healed Rib, I assist wives with identifying internal and external barriers that stop them from living an extraordinary life as a wife. Now, the extraordinary wife-life is not free of not so ups, but it is a life yielded to the Spirit of God, committed to implementing practical strategies and open to transformation in order to grow beyond what seemed right. No matter where a wife is on her journey, whether she is in need of support and strategy to overcome and thrive after the sting of infidelity if she needs help to answer the burning question “who am I” or if her wife-life is just OK but she knows that there’s more I am honored to partner with her.
I am set apart because many people will say that marriage is just a piece of paper and I show wives that it is more – so much more. I challenge wives to see her blind spots because we all think that we are the bomb.com but what if you’re really not? No worries – we’ll work together and you will be!
I am most proud that The Healed Rib helps women to know that they have the capacity to soar as a wife! My mandate from God is for wives to be Loved, Whole, and Healed – and I take that very seriously. And sometimes, all it takes is a conversation.
I want wives to know that while there is no manual to being an extraordinary wife, we do have biblical principals that we can use every single day!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love living in GA. I am just a girl from CT and I really thought that I lived in a big city – until I realized that we could fit the entire state of CT into the city of Atlanta -so yeah -I guess I am a small-town girl! LOL. I love the history, the culture, the people, the energy the everything! I know that people say that if you can make it in NYC that you can make it anywhere and I will go on record to say that if you can make your way to Atlanta then you can make a way out of no way! This place is buzzing with innovation and pride it’s just electric! But baby, this traffic… oy vey!
