Today we’d like to introduce you to Sohna Harzeez-Jeanty.
Sohna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started in laundry at an early age. I remember handing my grandma clothes pins to hang clothes on the clothesline outside between the garden and the house. I began to get interested in the environment and fashion. I didn’t realize that the two could mix in elementary and middle school. I still have a passion for fashion but now I address it from the aspect of caring for clothes in an eco-friendly manner. During the beginning of COVID, I decided to take an idea I previously pushed on my husband and put it into practice. That is how The Bubble Pitt was born. We just wrapped up our soft opening and virtual grand opening in Decatur, GA.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth like water or smooth like grits? It has been a learning experience. Doing laundry and making minor repairs is one thing but the business of it all is where curriculum meets the road. Studying works best when you are able to immediately or almost immediately put it into practice. Last year, I graduated from Start:Me Atl and am currently taking an online class by Cornell University and Bank of America. The days of no clients gave me a chance to work on things like pricing, brand, logo, and messaging. There were a lot of those days. I hope to have fewer days like that but admin days are needed in business. I learned a lot because I found out that I needed to do or have things in place. Baby, that Dekalb County website, nearly had me at the Chamber of Commerce ready to speak to the manager. Someone believed in me, Bobbie, and recommended that I try government contracts. That has been a big learning curve. But needed. I did what was needed all because someone said I could.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Bubble Pitt. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Bubble Pitt is a hygienic eco-friendly garment care service that offers peace of mind to clients looking to maintain their carefully curated wardrobes. We hygienically do this with eco-friendly methods, products, and tools. Most of our clients come to us for our wash+fold service because that is what is most familiar to them. We have mended and restored color to items. We clean up your style is more than a tagline. It is what we do and that makes me most proud. Suit refreshing can take the place of dry cleaners for most fabrics. Many people dry clean too often anyway and dry clean the wrong fabrics. I want people to know that The Bubble Pitt cares about your wardrobe just as much as you do. Also, there is no reason to be dusty in 2022.
What are your plans for the future?
Plans for the future include a YouTube channel, maybe a podcast, and expansion. Being able to reduce our clients’ carbon footprint is big for me. So be on the lookout for some growth in the coming years. We are looking to partner with artisans to offer clients more services. I do not profess to be an expert of much but delegation, honey, I got that down. Collaborations are in the near future for content. If anyone wants The Bubble Pitt touch to their products, I am down.
