Today we’d like to introduce you to Deana Panza.
Hi Deana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I actually started out in fashion marketing and public relations in New York City. And while I loved that work, I was looking to touch people in a different way and I realized that what I really loved about that work was figuring out why people were drawn to certain things. I’ve always been interested in people’s why and getting to truly know people for what makes them unique and interesting. So, after a move to Atlanta, some jobs in the tech industry, a few years as a yoga and meditation teacher, some crisis counseling volunteering, and graduate school, I finally became the mental health counselor that I think I’ve somehow always wanted to be.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think smooth is a relative term. I’ve been very privileged to have the support system that I have throughout all of this but simultaneously going to graduate school, interning, working three other jobs, and planning my wedding was probably the most stressful time I have experienced yet. There was a point where I was so burnt out that I wasn’t able to see properly. It was a huge lesson in boundaries and caring for my mental health. I literally could not have gotten through it without the support of my husband, family, and friends to support me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a therapist and wellness coach. I currently work 1 on 1 with clients to help them cultivate a strong sense of self-awareness and self-compassion while moving toward personal growth. I know that while each client is a unique individual, we all have the ability to evolve and heal. I work to create an environment of non-judgement, empowerment, and trust to support you in your journey toward wellness. I value you as the expert on your own life experiences and believe that the best outcomes are achieved when we work together to achieve your goals.
I will utilize an integrative approach that blends Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Mind-Body approaches, and Internal Family Systems to help you meet your needs. I take a holistic approach to treatment with warmth, understanding, and compassion. I work with adolescents and adults with a strength-based perspective that interweaves mindfulness, self-acceptance, creativity, and self-discovery.
I am a dedicated and compassionate clinician who feels it is a privilege to help my clients navigate their personal journey towards wellness, self-acceptance, and inner strength.
Soon, I will also be releasing courses as well that focus on things communication skills and cultivating self-acceptance and love.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I truly don’t think that I have a favorite childhood memory but if I did, I know that it would be. Something with my family. Those tend to be my most free and comfortable times where I truly felt like I could just let loose and be myself without worry.
