Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Fisher.
Tyler, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My first entrepreneurial experience was publishing my first book “Cardiac Cardinals” in 2019 when I was 18. The goal was to share the struggles I encountered on my football journey and high school. The book contains events from being homeless, losing records, discombobulated administration, and overcoming self-doubt while trying to find my identity. With the personal success with the book, I went on to publish my first Children Book “Fried Chicken & Yams” in 2020 a story losely based off my childhood about gratitude.
I was able to create an animated trailer and donate 650 copies of my children’s book to CC Spaulding Elementary and Fayetteville Elementary (the two closest Elementarys to Nccu). I was able to execute that goal with the help of a McDonald’s scholarship I had won in the Fall.
In 2021 is when I published my 3rd book STAYFAST the ambitious affirmations on March 19, 2021. This book is an affirmation book that focus on positive mental development to achieve your goals. This book was important to me because it felt like my own personal blueprint I can always go back too.
I wanted to expand my creativity so that is why I created the STAYFAST brand that following summer. I always loved fashion and how it makes people feel. I wanted to use my brand to push my message but also have fun with the creativity part. My brand is all about empowerment and taking the right steps to your success. After I graduated from North Carolina Central University, I will continue to expand the STAYFAST brand through clothing and visual content. Maybe in the near future, I’ll end up creating films with my ideas…
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been many struggles… but I use it as fuel. Living in poverty and growing up homeless has always put a chip on my shoulder. The constant battle of breaking generational burdens of finances, addiction, and way of thinking has had its pressures on me. However, I always tried to looked at my situations with the glass half full. Yes, I may be behind but there is always someone less fortunate and wasting time on complaining does not help; trust me! Even though I’m not where I want to be financially, I am grateful for how far I have come and just to have a roof over my head.
I honestly feel now it’s me vs. me now. I’m in my own lane and only thing that can defeat me is myself. Self-doubt and anxiety are things I still have to overcome in my entrepreneurial journey. However, God and my optimism always seem to help.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for being myself and expressing myself through mediums like books, clothing and social media. I express myself with jokes, creativity and perspective. Whether in the classroom or campus organizations, I try too see the need in the present moment and make due of what I have.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck I believe in life.
