Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Eaton. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Indy Native Willie Eaton, the CEO of Buddah Skin Cosmetic started the company in 2019. Buddah Skin Cosmetics is an all-natural cosmetic company catered to men, women, and children of color but can be used by all ethnicities. After experiencing skin burns from multiple over the counter facial care products, he decided to take matters into his own hands and created his own products. After creating and using his own products, the results were amazing. Not only did his handmade products heal his skin burns but become very beneficial for his overall skin health. After a year of testing the products and creating the perfect formulas the company was launched online, within six months the cosmetic company was doing overwhelmingly great. After quite a buzz throughout the city the cosmetic company was invited to every major vendor event. After selling out at the Indiana State Fair, the company purchased a billboard which brought Buddah Skin Cosmetics to new heights. Shortly after, the company was offered an opportunity to have a storefront in Circle Centre Mall. Since his journey has begun the company has grown and expanded in such a short time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been the smoothest road but I think as a business owner, you need the struggle to learn important lessons. I would say some of the biggest challenges for me was finding capital as a minority, I don’t feel like were made aware of our resources in order to start or grow our businesses. Another thing was researching and creating the perfect formulas. After testing my products and seeing actual results made it easier and gave me confidence to continue creating and expanding my line. As I said, the bumps in the road are just as important as the success in order to grow your company to heights you once thought were unattainable. I used all the failures to make me better as a business and most importantly a better businessman.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Apart from being the CEO of BSC (Buddah Skin Cosmetics), I also Model for Heyman Talent Agency and I am the Operations Manager for a Non-Profit (Indy Black Chamber Of Commerce) that helps provide resources and capital for small and minority business. As far as my modeling career, I’ve been a Signed model for over five years. I’ve modeled for some of the top designers and companies in the world. Modeling has also brought acting opportunities, I’ve been a movie and featured in 3 music videos. I love acting and modeling and I am definitely going to work to pursue more opportunities in that industry. Another thing is working for a non-profit gives me the opportunity not only to find out resources but also how to access capital not only for myself but for other small business owners like myself. I’m most proud that I get to be an inspiration to so many people. I am breaking generational curses and showing the same people that grew up with me in the trenches that we all make mistakes but our mistakes don’t determine our future. I think what sets me apart from others is my drive, determination and faith in God. I work so far but I pray harder and trust God that If I put in the work and keep him first, I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.
How do you define success?
Success, career-wise is having a vision, creating a plan, sticking to that plan, doing it all on your own, and ultimately, creating your own destiny. Personally for me, the definition of success is different from most like having a big house, cars and money that’s something I thought I wanted until I seen what material gains can do to people and that those material things don’t matter. To me, success is being genuinely happy and having peace. I think the small things or the things people may not think matter but the things that makeup success, like being wealthy enough that you can retire your mom so you can spend more time together, or things like being able to show your family that the possibilities are endless and like I said earlier that mistakes are a part of attaining success and they don’t determine your future they make you humble and add to your journey to success.
