Check Out Jeannie Howard’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannie Howard.

Hi Jeannie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2013, I moved from Germany to the U.S. (Augusta, Ga) to be with and get to know my father. One day I went to a carshow with my Father and some Girl came up to me asking if I would be interested in modeling. I said no. At this time, I was working in insurance and didn’t think of myself as a model at all. The Girl was very persistent and eventually convinced me. She then introduced me to the members of the nonprofit organization. IIDM(2-D-M) who organized car shows and needed models at the time to help them promote their shows. A big percentage of the money they received was donated to cancer centers. Since my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the time, I wanted to help and support the cause. I became a model and spokesperson for IIDM. At these car shows, I started networking with different photographers and other people in the entertainment industry. I subsequently did several TFP shoots and posted the pictures on my FB and IG. I received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback on my pictures. As my confidence and experience grew from one photoshoot to the next, I realized modeling was something I enjoyed doing and wanted to pursue seriously. I invested in modeling workshops started building my portfolio and, signed up on modeling websites. Since then, I have traveled throughout the U.S. to shoot with different photographers for diverse projects done local commercials and voiceovers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t call it a smooth road. In the almost eight years since I started modeling, I had to overcome many challenges. Between figuring out what type of modeling I want to focus on, learning how to properly pose and different facials expressions. One thing I have picked up is that there is always more to learn. Overcoming self-doubt and feeling like I’m not doing the right thing. I had to learn not to compare myself to others, to stay confident even if I didn’t get a call back for a job I really wanted. I learned to always ask questions first and do my research on a photographer or company and how to avoid unscrupulous or disreputable individuals. I’ve been in a situation where a “Photographer” asked to take off my clothes during what was supposed to be a TFP photoshoot for head shoots. Overcoming the stress of dry spells and not knowing if you are going to be paid before the bills are due is one of the hardest things I have experienced.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a model, I specialized in fashion, fitness and bikini photos. I enjoy being on Camera as Spokesperson for commercials. However, I am most proud of being booked to be a promotional model for a lustrous New York art show. In my experience, what sets me apart from others is my consummate professionalism, timeliness and, adaptability.
