Today we’d like to introduce you to Devon Frazier.
Hi Devon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in the beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale, FL. I’m a Chef, Hip Hop Artist, and Dancer. I started cooking as a child with my grandmother. I attended Plantation High School where I enrolled into the culinary arts program where I discovered my passion. I decided to go to FAMU and take up psychology because not only I love to Cook, I also wanted to understand the human mind. Once I realized that I will need 12 years of schooling to be successful, I transfer to Le Cordon Bleu in Tucker, GA and graduated with my Culinary Management Degree. I did my externship at Marlows Tarven where I was a prep cook and I hated it, I was just not comfortable where I have my degree and knowledge on how to run a kitchen to be working long hours and hard for minimum wage. So I decided to start my own Catering Business “Taste Of Royalty” and it’s been great ever since. I’m also a hip hop artist I go by the name of “Young Royal” that begin in 2020, I always had love for music; I used to do talent shows and write poetry in high school by never thought I wanted to be an artist because of my sexuality but in today’s world the LGBTQ artist is getting more respect and taken serious so I most definitely wanted to step out faith because I’m a talented person. I been dancing all my life. I’m a member of Boyz of Poison Dance Group, Rampage Step Team, & Images Modeling Troupe. All organizations were found on FAMU Campus.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a smooth ride since I started, I was able to promote my brand on Chasing ATL season 1 and 2, also on Gstatus ATL hustle season 2. I also had to chance to cater for lipstickroyaltyagency Power Brunch event which was a success. I got my first dancing gig in Atlanta. I was a part of Kandi wedding coming to American theme. I also did background dancing for Biousha an R&B artist.
The struggles I faced with being a dancer, a chef, and a hip hop artist was when Covid started, it f*cked up everything. It discouraged me wanted to get back in and finish what I started and accomplished.
Also the support from my community, it seems like no one wants to see you win, people are weird, jealous, and crazy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Chef, Hip Hop Artist, a Reality Web Series Star & Performer.
I specialize in Caribbean Food.
I’m known for my amazing macaroni & cheese and triffle Dessert. Also, my crazy personality on chasing Atlanta and Gstatus ATL hustle and my realness and authenticity that I share in my music.
I’m proud of everything that I’m doing because it’s what I love to do and when you love something, nothing and no one can discourage you or stop your blessing.
Me being Me is what sets me apart from everyone else. Being Apart Of Chasing ATLANTA which was the first all black gay series, I was able to share my story and give our community something good and now you see so many colons that’s trying to be like me. Lol, there’s Only 1 Devon and there will never be another.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, love and cherish your family and friends and be the best person you can be. Also, don’t take life for granted get out and do all the things you love to do.
