Life & Work with Nicole Corbett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Corbett.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi my name is Nicole. I am a published makeup artist of 10+ years, a braider and a boy mom. Makeup started when my eldest sister bought me an eyeshadow palette for Christmas. I was so eager to learn how to use it. I would practice on my friends and family. Once I became a little better, I applied and got my first job at Sephora. That’s where my love for makeup really came from. My next goal was to become a MAC makeup artist. Once I achieved that, I learned so much about the industry. From there, I started my freelance career and have been freelancing for the past five years and have serviced many brides and clients attending events. I have been published twice in popular magazines. I’ve also Worked fashion week. I now take clients at my studio and offer braiding services.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with anything, it was not a smooth ride. I applied to MAC cosmetics three times before they hired me, lol. During my interview, I expressed that to the interviewer and I believe that’s how I was hired.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full-time makeup artist/ hairstylist. Specializing in soft glam makeup, wig making and knotless braids. Soft hydrated skin is what I’m known for. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come with makeup. Checking my goals off one by one.

When you book with me, it’s like having a friend you can confide in. A lot of my clients just sometimes need to vent and I’m that person for them.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Always have a backup. Learn to make money in other ways.
