Community Highlights: Meet Gabrielle E’etan – Joan Rogers of Looks by Gab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle E’etan – Joan Rogers.

Hi Gabrielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am an entrepreneur of 28 years of age; my story goes back a lot further than Looks by Gab. In 2012, I enrolled in a biology program at a community college, but my ADHD prevented me from succeeding. Consequently, I was unable to complete my schoolwork due to my inability to concentrate on my technical work. As a result, I failed that semester with all Fs. Eventually, I made the decision to go back to school in 2014. As a new general studies major at Georgia perimeter college, I was invited to the local job fair by my advisor. Coding/robotics fascinated me during this time, but since I did not possess the necessary skills, I was not confident enough to apply. In the fall of 2014, I was named homecoming queen of my college, and I founded a non-profit organization called Headshots for Cards. In March of 2015, HeadShot for Card held its inaugural event. During a single day, the opportunity presented itself to make over 250 cards for local charities to give to people in need. Participants received a complimentary headshot in exchange for their participation. As I continued through the semester, I developed a sense of confidence in computer science and began a collaboration between our engineering and education departments.

As a student advocate, I presented at the Georgia State International Conference on Computer Education and taught coding to inner-city schools through our collaboration. A love for beauty grew in me along the way; as a former beauty queen, it was a perfect match. My journey into aesthetics began in September of 2019; by December of 2019, Looks By Gab, LLC had been born. Looks by Gab LLC is dedicated to inspiring women, men, and children to be their best. I offer permanent makeup, hair removal, chemical peels, lash extensions, lash/brow lifts, and customized facials. After finishing my undergraduate degree and rebranding in the year 2021, I am happy to welcome you to Gabrielle E’etan Beauty. I love what I do, so GEB is just an extension of my growth, training, and overall passion for the industry. Besides being LGBT-friendly, I am also Black-owned and Woman-owned. My goals for the near- future includes becoming a dermatology PA, opening a medical spa, and continuing to educate the youth in the community. Aside from thanking God, my family, my educational professors, and the city of Atlanta for the opportunity to share my story, I want to thank Voyage Atl for their continued support and the opportunity to share my love for coding, beauty, and aesthetics with the world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My journey has not been smooth. In March of 2020, my school was closed due to Covid-2019. Covid-19 prevented me from graduating until July 2021. In addition, I faced difficulties with clients, performance, and anxiety during this period.

As you know, we’re big fans of Looks by Gab, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
After launching Looks By Gab, LLC in December of 2019, I began my journey into aesthetics. Looks by Gab LLC, an organization dedicated to inspiring women, men, and children to be their best, has been in business for two years. My services include permanent makeup, hair removal, chemical peels, lash extensions, lash/brow lifts, and customized facials. As the rebranding of Gabrielle E’etan Beauty comes to fruition in 2021, I am thrilled to welcome you to my company. Having grown in the industry, received training, and generally love what I do, GEB is an extension of that. Furthermore, I am black and woman-owned, as well as LGBT-friendly. One of my future goals is becoming a dermatology physician assistant, opening a medical spa, and educating the youth in my community.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was getting a custom barbie inspired four-wheeler. I had been waiting all year to be old enough to ride through the community of Duluth, GA on my new toy.
