Today we’d like to introduce you to Larissa Campos.
Larissa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey as a teacher started back in 2006 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I majored in Languages and Cultures with a concentration in English and Portuguese. At first, my goal was to teach Portuguese in Brazilian schools, but life took a different turn and I ended up teaching English as a Foreign Language in my hometown. In 2012, I was blessed with a Fulbright scholarship to teach Portuguese as a Foreign Language at Utah Valley University. This experience changed my mind and my life! After a year living in Utah, I went back home and I had made up my mind that I would come back to the USA to pursue my Master’s degree. In 2015 I came back, like I had previously planned, this time my temporary home would be Lubbock, Texas. I went to Texas Tech University to start my Master’s in Applied Linguistics, as soon as I graduated in 2017, I started applying for teaching jobs and I found a job here in Georgia, so I moved here in order to teach Portuguese as a Foreign Language to middle schoolers. I currently teach 6th, 7th and 8th graders. I also teach English as Foreign Language to Brazilians, my business is online and it is really heartwarming being able to help so many people achieve their dreams and learn a new language.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The experience of living in a new country has been bittersweet. I do miss home, A LOT, but I really do feel blessed for having this opportunity.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business focuses on helping Brazilians learn English as foreign language, classes are online and on Zoom. Students that enroll in the classes choose whether they prefer individual or group classes. They have access to an online platform and their materials are included in the fee they pay. The most popular class packages are 4 and 8 sessions. They pay through Zelle or Venmo, and if they purchase 24 sessions or more, they will receive a discount.
My brand strives to provide students not only with English skills but also motivating them to believe they are able to conquer whatever they set their minds to. The brand literally says, “Make your English glow” AND “Keep glowing”.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Right now, I still have some spots for people who are interested in learning English as a foreign/second language.
