Hi Brande, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I initially started playing around with candles when I needed something creative to do that didn’t require a lot of physical work. I have always been a candle lover and felt I was spending way too much money on candles that I felt weren’t worth the money. I started to research, study and take classes to become better. I also would get advice and pick the brains of candle makers who had been in the industry for years.
I started making candles for myself just for me to have at home. Then I started gifting them to family and friends. Their response and reviews pushed me into doing a little more research on the candle business. I also started to research and create more products for self-care. After I researched it, I became excited that something I loved to do could actually become my business…
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting BScented has definitely not been a smooth road. Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak. There were may obstacles in the beginning.
My first obstacle was myself! I had to get out of my own way! I had to remove the self-doubt and fear. I’m a perfectionist so I wanted every aspect of the business to be perfect. I worked on it for years before I released products to anyone. I walked into it thinking it was going to be easy and everything was going to fall into place perfectly! I was so wrong!
My second obstacle was trusting people with my thoughts and creativity. I’ve always been a person who felt I could do everything by myself. So me relying on other people was a lot for me.
Once I removed the self-doubt and started trusting people to do their job it became a little smoother. It wasn’t always what I wanted but it was always a lesson and something to overcome.
My website and labels were a complete horror story! I can laugh now but I literally would almost be in tears and ready to quit all together! There were many times I wanted to call everything off because it took my website forever to be up. It was the most chaotic and unprofessional process ever. This was the first project that I was trusting someone on and it confirmed the reason I didn’t trust people.
Now to my labels. My labels were made and I had a template. I could not reproduce them for nothing! I had to take a class just to somewhat figure it out. It still wasn’t working. I literally called the young lady who made the template one day so frustrated that she walked me through it virtually. She restored my trust by being so calm, helpful and reassuring.
Those are just a couple of things, now I just know things will happen, people will happen. Cry, laugh, sleep, figure it out and keep moving.

I create candles and body products that you can use daily. My products can be used by any gender and age. My most popular products are the candles, body scrub and car/room sprays.
I think what sets me apart from other companies is the care. The care I put into making the products. The care I put into my brand. More importantly, the customer care you will receive. I pride myself in taking care of my customers, communicating with my customers and giving them what I feel I missed from other businesses.
What makes me the proudest of my brand are the reviews and feedback that I receive from my customers. It brings me pure joy and brightens my day when I am able to make someone happy by something as simple as a scent.
BScented is my baby! This is like my 3rd child. This is personal to me. I want you to be able to trust me with assisting you in relaxing and self-care. We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would be every Sunday. I would wake up every Sunday morning to my Grandmother cooking breakfast before church. After church, I would return home to her cooking dinner and being surrounded by family where we would laugh, talk, joke, eat and watch sports together,
