Conversations with Gerald “SyncereOnBeatz” Bookman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald “SyncereOnBeatz” Bookman.

Gerald “SyncereOnBeatz” Bookman started working with independent record labels in 2002. In 2008, he worked at Ruff Ryders Entertainment as an intern, during which time he was given an opportunity to learn about artist development and a few things about the business side of entertainment by one of the founders, Darin “Dee” Dean.

In 2010, while working in the studio as an inspirational rap artist under his own label entitled Music Diary Productions, he was discovered by a musician/producer that worked closely with Grammy-winning record producer Blac Elvis. Utilizing the help of this producer and two others, SyncereOnBeatz launched Music Diary Group, an unofficial production company that participated in developing an artist, writing songs, and producing music between 2010-2013. MDG worked alongside several artists such as Paul Porter, American Idol contestants; Kendra Chantelle and Ruben Studdard, and many more.

In 2013, SyncereOnBeatz stepped back from the music industry as he was conflicted about the type of music he was creating and about the direction he wanted his music career to go in. After spending time seeking God, SyncereOnBeatz felt called to return to music with a focus on inspirational and gospel entertainment. In 2016, SyncereOnBeatz established Music Diary Group LLC, making MDG an official company to promote music and movies that inspire and give hope.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. What wasn’t a struggle! This has been six years in the making. The main struggle was determining what my platform would be and how to organize it. Other struggles included financing my vision, finding web developers that won’t rip me off (I’ve been ripped off by so-called web developers at least 5x), and getting artists to trust my platform. Some of these struggles have gotten easier and some remain a challenge. There are days when I feel like I want to give up, but I don’t because I’m a fighter and I want to see my vision through.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder of Music Diary Group, LLC, which is a company I set up to promote and distribute Inspirational as well as Gospel Entertainment and merchandise that gives people hope.

Musicdiarygroup.com is designed to be utilized to SHOWCASE and/or to DISCOVER new and promising inspirational talent of all kinds (e.g., recording artists, comedians, spoken word artists, etc.) via streaming music and viewing music videos.

In addition, Inspirational merchandise is also available for purchase.

We plan to launch Music Diary Group Internet Radio in 2022 to expand our platform!

What sets us apart is that we are not in the “Gospel Box” meaning that we showcase clean (non-explicit) entertainment that is not limited to one genre. This is what I am most proud of!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
That people who come to my platform will be encouraged and inspired. This matters to me because we need hope, especially during these times we live in.
