Thanks for sharing your story with us Jordan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We have been blessed with great success over the past 4 years. We started as a dorm-based business at the University of Georgia, and now we are lucky enough to have The University of Georgia as one of our biggest clients. Not only that, but we have been able to work with clients like T-Mobile, Gwinnett County Public Schools, and numerous other businesses in the metro Atlanta area. After a dorm and 2 small offices, we now have a great office in Norcross which houses our company’s 20+ employees. We are extremely thankful for the successes we have achieved over the past 4 years, and we are looking forward to many more in the coming years.
Has it been a smooth road?
Our company began in the Entrepreneurship program at The University of Georgia. Kevin Kinney, Jason Muller, and myself set out on a mission to use technology to improve peoples’ businesses. It was an uphill battle for 3 college students like ourselves. We had no experience, no office, and full-time school schedules. Early on, we needed a way to get customers quickly. Of course, we did not have the most experienced team, but we were driven and had a desire to prove ourselves in the business world.
One of our best decisions was to seek the counsel of Chris Hanks, who was the director of the entrepreneurship program at UGA at the time. He explained to us that acquiring customers was going to be our biggest challenge because of our age. However, with this problem, he also provided a potential solution. Chris helped our team implement a “risk-free entry” for clients. In other words, we developed a process by which we would agree to a determined price, and customers would not have to pay until work was complete and to their full satisfaction. Lo and behold, we began to gain customers, and those customers began to send us more customers. Soon we had a growing business, and we were well on our way to being the company Frenik is today!

Frenik Marketing Group is a full-service marketing and PR firm, specializing in technology implementation. Our overall purpose is to help develop businesses by giving them the tools and technology to keep up with the changing digital landscape. If I had to say what we are most proud of at Frenik, it’s our commitment to the community and to each other. Frenik is more than just a business, we are truly a family. This applies inside and outside of our office. Of course, as colleagues and teammates, we help each other accomplish our professional goals. However, we also eat together, have fun together, and serve our community together.
We just completed an initiative to renovate the Single Parent Alliance and Resource Center (SPARC) in Norcross, Georgia. While they offer free childcare to single-parent families, their community center has become extremely run down and unsafe for children. We worked with various corporate partners to provide the children of SPARC with a safe, wholesome, and fun environment.
In addition to our service, we also try to create opportunity inside the office. Every year, Frenik hires interns from local high schools and universities in various areas of concentration, including internet marketing, videography, and software engineering. This gives students an inside look at what a career in their area of interest would be like. These interns benefit us even more. They keep our office young and up-to-date on the latest trends, and they provide an energy and enthusiasm to our workplace that is irreplaceable.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great place to live and to work. I am a lifelong resident of Gwinnett County, and I could not imagine living anywhere else. Professionally, Metro-Atlanta is a great place to be right now. With new businesses opening their doors every day, this creates ample opportunity for us to expand our businesses and help those new companies grow.
Personally, I would not want to be anywhere else. I am a lifelong Braves, Falcons, and Hawks fan. Additionally, with the Beltline expansion, Ponce City Market, and great restaurants, there is always something to do in Atlanta. If I had to give advice to someone coming to Atlanta for the first time, I would tell them to just be open to new opportunities, because there are always new opportunities knocking at your door in Atlanta. The only thing I would change about Atlanta is the traffic!
