Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTangelia Sanderson.
Hi LaTangelia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s been a bit of a journey. After spending over ten years in Corporate America, focusing on retail banking ventures, business operations, sales, and training, I transitioned to education. As an educator, I shape the minds of our youth in the areas of business, marketing, and entrepreneurship. During this time, my love and passion continued to grow for entrepreneurship, especially business development. However, I began to recognize the absence and knowledge surrounding it. The lack of resources and support for black women in this area was overwhelming, so I continued educating myself and seeking opportunities to help others while sharpening my skillset and expertise. My determination manifested itself in a willingness to overcome obstacles to start and run a thriving business.
Over the years, I have assisted many friends, students, and small businesses with various business tasks attributed to my vast adrenaline rush for entrepreneurship. So, I prayed and asked God to lead my steps and focused on changing my mindset and developing a plan of execution. Then, with a master’s in Business Management and various educational certifications, I began to ponder the solutions my business could offer business owners and identify my target audience. Finally, four years ago, I came back home to Georgia for the resources and thriving entrepreneurial economy.
Most importantly, as the Sanderson Solutions and Consulting owner, I discovered the need to shift my mindset. It was vital for me to write down my goals, create my business plan, execute, and allow room for adjustments. As I look back, the journey has not been smooth but rewarding. As an entrepreneur, it is essential to understand that you will face challenges during your transition, so have an open mind and acquire a mentor for help.
For example, as things came together, I was challenged with committing time to my craft, removing self-doubt, and the desire for perfection. But I quickly learned perfection was not as important as my determination, execution, and plan.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along the way, my challenges stemmed from not having enough time in a day to explore my business desires while being a mom. Being afforded the time to chase my dreams was not available early on, so I continued to position myself around like-minded individuals coupled with taking advantage of professional development courses offered by my employer. As an educated black woman, I saw a need to make a difference in the marketplace, so I utilized my relationships to leverage my network. By doing so, my environment strengthened, and access to resources became easier.
One of my biggest lessons learned was that failure was necessary to succeed. I now understand that failure provided different viewpoints of the situation and
additional solutions to solving the problem. Moreover, those failures curated new opportunities for me to succeed. I can clearly say that the experience I gained over the years has made me a better business professional and helped me develop strategies and standard operating procedures that have catapulted my business.
Currently, my biggest struggle is delegation and time management. No two clients are alike, and start-up business ventures are very hands-on; therefore, it is hard to delegate those tasks initially. I recently hired a social media manager and VA to help with the day-to-day operations and scheduling. By doing so, I can concentrate on achieving my first-quarter goals, growing the business, and new business collaborations.
My team and I will be hosting a Youth Financial Literacy Camp this Spring and a Business to Brunch Workshop for new entrepreneurs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us more about your business?

What changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, things will continue to shift and normalize after the effects of Covid. Although the need for business consulting will always be present, in my opinion, new and innovative ways of thinking and implementation are on the rise. The hospitality and tourism areas will most likely see the most significant gains due to the recent years of unprecedented disruptions from Covid-19.
There is a new normal on the rise, and it’s essential for individuals, especially entrepreneurs, to shape their thought processes around new consumers and the various ways to conduct business. In addition, business owners and entrepreneurs will need to redefine their target markets and grow an understanding of market segmentation. By doing these two critical aspects, the psychographics on the market is more easily defined, which will aid in business growth and offset a vital shift to the business.
