Daily Inspiration: Meet Kimberly Jenkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Jenkins.

Hi Kimberly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At the age of eight, I first braided my nephew and cousin’s hair just for fun but it quickly became my passion. As time went on headed into middle school, I taught myself how to braid and I was determined to learn more. Becoming a teen mother was a huge challenge for me and I knew I had to make huge sacrifices to make sure that my child was taken care of without me asking for handouts. I did hair as a side hustle to make extra money while in school while working at Walmart. My passion for braiding always got me thinking and challenging myself on how to stand out amongst other stylists and learn different trending hairstyles as the years went by.

My family & I moved to Covington Georgia, I wasn’t expecting to take my hair business to the next level.

I did a few of my friend’s hair and business starting coming!

I prayed about it and I’ve been booked up ever since!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I work a full-time job, a mother of three, a wife and running a business. Trying to dedicate time for it all is very stressful but I can’t give up! Being in the hair industry is tough! I had to learn marketing and branding strategies to build clientele in different locations I moved to.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in hair braiding. I’m known for the creative designs braids that I do. I’m mostly proud of the challenges I perfected, the confidence I help build in my clients, the wonderful reviews I receive, my amazing clients that became family to me. What sets me apart from others is my creative, some of my designs are like no others.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is to become a braider instructor all around the world.
