Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Wayne Dean.
Hi Jeremy Wayne, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got into music when I was 21. My mother tried to get me into it before she passed away when I was 13 but it never really stuck… or I suppose it did. A lot to that story but I’ve been gigging full time now since I was 25. Got into music because a lot of my close friends were musicians or artists of some variety and encouraged me to at least explore it to some extent. Then while in college, my English teachers pushed me to write more and how to be comfortable and confident in expressing myself in written form. Then came the open mics. Songwriters contests. Then gigging full-time fell in place. Fourteen years later, I’m fortunate enough to still be learning, growing and gigging as a musician in Atlanta.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Oh no. What road worth traveling ever is? Isn’t that supposed to be at the end? It’s all an adventure. There have been times when everything you can imagine falls into place. Times when it all falls apart too. I’ve almost quit a dozen times. There’s a lot to unpack here. Psychologically. Spiritually. Mentally. I’ll say though, for all the hardships that I personally know come with this type of work, the personal rewards and sense of freedom to express oneself and be present with that creative energy in those serendipitous moments is worth any road I need to travel.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a writer, performer and musician. I specialize in music. I suppose I’m known for that…cover gigs mostly these days but I do still perform lots of original material at my gigs.
Maybe songwriting, or my dog Hudson…?
I’m honestly super stoked to be a year into playing at Hard Rock in Atlanta with dates on the books now for 2022.
I’m not sure… I honestly could only say it might be a stylistic approach or delivery of songs, stories and jokes.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Hmmm… intellectual or spiritually stimulating conversation…or mountains and exercise.
They all make me evaluate thought patterns, habits and how I conduct myself in the world. Which inevitably brings me a sense of peace, understanding and acceptance.
