Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakil Mason.
Hi Lakil, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always tell people that there is no such thing as restricted talent.
Throughout my life, I have been known for many different talents and titles. Whether it has been an honor student, an athlete, an instrumentalist, a campus queen, an AKA, a model, an actress, an executive, or a college graduate, you have the ability to recreate yourself as much as possible. Life is all about constantly evolving and becoming a better version of yourself each and every day.
Starting the process is just the beginning. Whatever goals you set to accomplish in life, the first step is working towards them. Being consistent, disciplined and focused has helped me get to where I am today. Although I am not exactly where I would like to be, I will continue to work toward my goals daily.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We often hear that life is a marathon, not a sprint. When you discover your life’s purpose, you appreciate the journey 100x more.
There are times where I have struggled to stay motivated in my purpose due to the ongoing, unexpected cycle of life. When that tends to happen, I think about two of several most important principles that I was raised on – faith and discipline. When I feel stagnant discipline is what keeps me going and faith keeps me grounded.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In addition to being known as a creative based in Atlanta, GA, I also have a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in health science. I had the pleasure of completing my undergrad studies at the illustrious Morris College, located in Sumter, South Carolina. In 2019, I started training as a laboratory tech and in 2020, I became a certified wastewater laboratory analyst with the state of Georgia. As a current wastewater professional, I contribute to the chemical, physical and bacteriological examination of water samples to ensure they are in compliance with local and federal agencies.
Being a first-generation college graduate and capable to perform this level of work is one of my proudest accomplishments. It is very heartwarming to be an inspiration to others, including my family, to strive to reach your greatest potential.
