Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendrick Johnson.
Hi Kendrick, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am in the first grade but, I earned the Student Author award when I was in Kindergarten. My mom encouraged me to continue telling stories and then I wrote a story about how to make friends. I wrote this story because I want to help people make friends on their first day of school because I know what it feels like to be nervous. I also learned that compromising can help you make new friends and I learned that if you give a little you will get a little.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not a smooth road to write my story because I was nervous what my friends would think of the story. I was afraid my friends would think my story was silly.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love to have fun and be silly but my ability to set boundaries, respect other’s boundaries and practice self-control is what sets me apart from others. I am best known for telling stories and being funny. I hope to write more books.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Playing with my dog (Kingy) makes me happy because he likes to race with me and play with me. I have a lot of energy and my dog helps me to get my energy out.
