Check Out Alexis Dudley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Dudley.

Alexis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business when I was 19, pretty soon after I got out of high school. I graduated from high school in May of 2020 and decided college was just not for me… I wanted to jump right into working and figure out what I was passionate about. So I started working as an assistant to a real estate group. At the time, I was also doing competition cheerleading and trying to find my own place to live. I was also an “influencer” on social media for about 6-7 years. Towards the end of 2020 something finally clicked in my head and I knew exactly what I wanted to do! So I quit my job, quit competition cheer, and started my business (Instaplan) in January of 2021, and I’ve never looked back! Giving up the stability of a 9-5 job and quitting the hobby I was most passionate was extremely hard and stressful but even at the age of 19 I knew I needed to just take the jump and start my career! Now it’s been a little over a year and I’m very happy with my business and can’t wait to see how much it grows!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all… some of the biggest struggles were getting my name out there and showcasing my talent and creativity. Not to mention leaving a stable 9-5 job with a guaranteed paycheck every two weeks to being responsible for gaining clients each month and monitoring all spending costs. Another thing I struggled with in the beginning was confidence in the quality of my work. Being 19 and almost 21 now, people are quick to assume I have mediocre skills and no drive to put out great work, and that killed my confidence. Now I feel much better about it now, I know my work is worth the price and time it takes!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My company, Instaplan, is a digital marketing agency, although my specialty is social media management and graphic design, but I also do photography/videography, event planning, website development, and marketing consulting! I am definitely most proud of my social media management because I have a natural talent for it since I’ve grown up using it. My age and connections/experience with social media over the past 6-7 years has helped me stand out from other social media managers along with my affordable prices compared to the big companies.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
One of my biggest mentors, supporters, and cheerleaders was and still is definitely my mom… she never doubted any of my decisions from the start and has been here to help me whenever I call. So much so that it even inspired her to start her own business shortly after and I was able to return all the favors. Now we help support each other in our passions as mother and daughter.
