Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Zane.
Hi Cameron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in the wedding photography and filmmaking world started when I was in my early 20s! I heard my friend talking about his wedding video business and loved the idea of being creative and an entrepreneur. It was like my perfect job and knew it was for me. I quickly invested in my first video camera and asked a few friends if I could film their upcoming wedding. Over the years, I continued to grow my business and portfolio of work and eventually, it became my full-time career.
More recently, I decided to also expand into the photography side of things, which I’m also very passionate about! Interestingly, photography had always intimidated me more than creating videos, but after so many years of working alongside wedding photographers and observing how they work, I realized It was time for me to grow and become a photographer as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m naturally an introvert, so the biggest challenge I had to overcome was being more assertive and speaking up during the wedding day. Whether that be to attain my creative vision or to draw on my experience and help make sure things run smoothly during the event.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m primarily a wedding videographer. I’ve filmed some commercial work in the past, but my passion is in the wedding industry. I film 30+ weddings a year and very proud of my work over the past few years. I intentionally took time to think about what I wanted my style to be and established some principles I still follow today.
I love authentic images. By that I mean true to life colors and lighting. I think the images of weddings should have a classic and timeless look because trends come and go, but your memories need to last a lifetime. 50+ years down the road, I want my clients to look back on their video or photos and remember how their day really looked and felt.
Another part of my style are the moments I chase. Two parts of the day I strive to capture are the emotional real moments with loved ones and the fun celebration with friends. One of my favorite times during the wedding day is the cocktail hour. No, not because I’m ready to have a Manhattan. (Though it’s probable) It’s because I’ve found that’s the best time to capture people smiling and laughing. Those candid shots of friends and family are just priceless.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me in my professional work is that my clients have the best day and that I can provide them with the best memories of that day.
In my personal life, my family and faith takes 1st place.
