Hidden Gems: Meet Jennifer Jordan of JJ BodyWERK

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jordan.

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I became a certified Zumba instructor in 2018. In January of 2019, I started teaching classes at LA Fitness while also starting a new career in IT Project Management for Kaiser Permanente. In that same year, I decided to expand my fitness platform and knowledge; and obtained national certifications for Body Works & Abs, Aqua aerobics, and kickbox cardio. I taught many classes for LA Fitness for three years and brought them good business and many memberships. I was compensated less than fair but the members was where my love and loyalty lied. I stayed at LA Fitness for the passion of teaching group fitness, not money. All those years, my members spoke life into what I’m doing today. TO BE MY OWN BOSS and reap all the seeds I’ve sown. I left LA Fitness in January 2022 and in February, I launched my own fitness business, JJ BodyWERK, LLC. I found a local gym (Tadda’s Fitness) that allowed me to lease their space to conduct my classes under my own brand. I now have over 50 clients and counting from East, south, and North Atlanta that attend my classes. I conduct Zumba, Toot & Tone, and bootcamp sessions. I do all of this by myself as a single mother while still working a day job (IT).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Surprisingly my business started out great! I packed all of my classes the very first week I launched. It’s been pretty smooth but I’ve definitely struggled with balancing my mommy duties and my day job as my business requires a lot of my attention. Doing it on my own is the hard part, but I managed to hire two people as part of my staff to help facilitate the operations and marketing. Trying to do it all and still somewhat make time for a life outside of my work and business is my main struggle. It can take a toll mentally at times, but I’m learning as I grow that everything works out as it should.

.Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in group fitness, primarily dance fitness- Zumba. What sets me apart from others is my energy. It’s not a typical high-impact, high-intensity workout. It’s fun, it’s passionate, and gives life to anyone who attends. I aim to empower and encourage my clients. It’s more than a WERKout, it’s a fellowship of positive radiant energy. My Zumba classes feel like a concert.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the testimonies my clients have shared with me. Not on just their weight-loss or fitness journey, but the mental wellness and confidence they’ve gained in attending my classes. I’ve inspired a few clients to get Zumba certifications and another to start their own fitness business as well.

I offer dance fitness and body toning/conditioning classes. I’m located in Decatur.

How do you think about happiness?
Making others feel happy and liberated because everything is full circle. You sow good seeds; you reap blessings, simple. I am truly blessed.

I always say these mantras in my classes:

* Love, Light, Health, Wealth.
* Balance
* Hug yourself, love yourself

You find peace there.
